So, i finally decided to get myself a nice gamepad for PC. I know that xbox360 controllers for windows are considered the best, but what bugs me is their left stick/arrows position. As a person who used dualshock2 on my ps2, I'm not sure that this reversed position is comfortable. What do you think about it? And also(mostly if 1st answer is no), are there ways to connect dualshock2 to pc, or is there some good enough controller with sony-style positions, but with acceptable quality(I've heard Logitech ones aren't as good as their keyboard/mouse)
And as a little thank you for watchers of this topic, a small Fez giveaway: http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/bvfv3/fez
EDIT: Thanks everyone for your answers and opinion! Looks like I will get myself a dshock3 after all.

Xbox one or logitech F series. No other options. If you are used to dualshock layout then definitely F510/710 is your choice.

You could get a cheap adapter for any Dualshock 2 controllers you have laying around, then use x360ce to make games think you're using a Xbox controller. It works with some games, but not all. For instance it doesn't work with Valve games and it has problems with Batman: AA. But it does work great with Skyrim and DiRT 3.

Motioninjoy is what I use to emulate my PS3 controller as an Xbox controller and I've never had any issues with it in any game, including those you listed x360ce having issues with.

x360ce works fine in B:AA for me. Then again, I'm still using a build from 2012 cause the newer ones refused to work at all...

The dualshock 3 and 4 work great, although you have to install a simple program to make them work - this is what I use. They act as 360 pads, only they're actually good controllers! The DS4's touchpad works as a mouse and can click, apparently. They both connect via bluetooth or a standard mini-usb cable.

Everyone says the DS4 is much better, but the DS3 was already an improvement over the 360 pad and the DS4 is fairly pricey at the moment. The only good things I've heard from friends with the Logitech ones is in comparison to the 360 controller. They're apparently not even close to the dualshocks.

Dualshock 2, well, you're on your own there.

E: Also Microsoft haven't released any official way of using the bone controller on PC. They're going to wait six months and release a repackaged version for windows at an inflated price, probably.

I use a Dualshock 3, and it works well wired (I haven't tried unwired). I have never had any compatibility issues.

If you do use a Dualshock 3 or 4, though, don't use Motioninjoy because it's crap. Use this wrapper instead.

Really? Motioninjoy is the only one I've ever used and it works flawlessly.

There have been security issues with motioninjoy, apparently. That's security as in "why are my controller drivers sending a bunch of "diagnostic data" to chinese servers?" and "why am I suddenly getting a lot of ad popups?" Not something everyone had trouble with, but it put a lot of people off.

Exactly, motioninjoy is one big gaping loophole people willingly open on their PCs. There's a tool called "better Motioninjoy" or something like that that works the same way, without the html form and the backdoor data exchanges.

About the PS3->Xbox controller change : I had been playing with Sony's controllers for years (PSX, PS2) and had no trouble at all adapting to the Xbox controller. It's reliable, comfortable, has an excellent compatibility with tons of PC games... So I recommend you give it a try, even if I'm also pretty sure there are also other excellent controllers out there.

Some people really don't like the stick placement, and I personally loathe the d-pad, even after they apparently redesigned it. The triggers, too.

I still used one for years, but I wish I'd switched sooner.

I personally use a Wii Classic Controller with one of these and it works great. Any games that don't automatically detect it (although 90% of the games I play that have gamepad support do automatically detect it) can be easily solved with the use of Xpadder.

If you want a hassle free experience then get the xbox controller cause you will get used to it after awhile. you can use playstation controllers but it requires more software and it could be easy setup and work fine. Or you could have issues and a headache, eventually you will find a game that it doesnt work well with and it will be a pain in the arse.
