A million times, yes! Without EA getting their filthy fucking hands on it, of course!

One Must Fall had a sequel, but the original company doesn't care about the series now.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking of when I mentioned a no good remake. I never even saw a copy of it in person.

I only want a sequel for Bully: Scholarship Edition. Nothing else. :B

Huh, I never played that. It looked sort of bland, It was that good?

GTA is about lowlife people. Jimmy Hopkins, the protagonist of Bully, isn't a degenerate. He's just a kid, having a very shitty family, which resulted him in getting expelled from a lot of schools, and ending up in Bullworth Academy, a school full of bullies and cliques. There, Jimmy becomes a victim of bullying and decides to destroy all the bullies and the cliques (and his archenemy too), in order to change this school drastically. So, no, Jimmy isn't a criminal, just like the GTA protagonists are. Jimmy would never end up in jail or killing people.

I don't actually remember specifically. I do remember when I was playing it on the PS2 that there was one or two parts that were really annoying. I think one of the parts was when you have to use the nerds to defend the place near the football stadium? I don't remember too much that is literally all I remember, sorry xD
Comment has been collapsed.
The Big Game mission? It's not about defending anything though. Or maybe you mean when you attack the nerd stronghold in Stronghold Assault? Why were they annoying?
Comment has been collapsed.
It's by no means a perfect game, but I would not call it bland. It's an interesting take on the whole "Open world" theme, where you're limited to a school yard (a relatively big one) and you have to face what really amounts to relatively inconsequential things (from a grander perspective), but as seen by a kid who has to live through it (and as a kid, these things are not inconsequential). It's nice to see such a shift in perspective from time to time, and I wish more games would do that. That said, I don't agree with Shamrock, Bully is still so recent, and playable, that a remake would amount to little else than a graphical update and some tweaking of the controls.
Comment has been collapsed.
You are limited to a school yard? Are you sure you've ever played this game? o.O More areas unlock procedurally. What you said isn't true at all. Also, Bully isn't recent at all. It was released in 2006 and the pc version was released in 2008. How's that recent? The game is about a kid beating the bullies and not being a bully, as the title of the game may imply. That said, there's no other person I could have a more different opinion than yours about Bully. :P

Well, the steam version crashes often. The physical pc copy has no problems though.

Instantly whitelisted. :D
I'd want a remake AND a sequel. Bigger and better Bully with more missions and more focus on every character would be absolutely amazing.
Comment has been collapsed.
Woohoo, thank you. :D No need for a remake. I prefer a sequel. Or even a prequel. And it should be released to the pc too from the beginning, not for the consoles first. xD And I want a sequel soon. I've been waiting for so many years. 10 years have passed since the release of Bully and 8 years since the release of its pc version. Yeah, Bully with even more funny missions, but all of them teaching valuable lessons. ;) And we want more tests. Harder ones. :D Shit, I'm so excited, but I'm afraid we won't see a sequel.
Comment has been collapsed.
Prequel would be good as well, though it would need for you to play as someone else if the setting is still kept at Bullworth. I wouldn't mind that!
Comment has been collapsed.
Butbutbut, if it's a prequel about Jimmy Hopkins then we don't get the other characters from Bullworth! There are sooo many interesting personalities in the big cast that could (and should!) get more mission involvement and shit!
Comment has been collapsed.
But Jimmy Hopkins was the big star. I doubt I would love a prequel or sequel without Jimmy Hopkins. :'(

I always enjoy it. Steam version crashes often though, so I prefer to play it as a physical copy.

A little late to the party... Also, I just kinda typed the first (and most obvious) thing that came to my mind without even elaborating on my choice.
Lots of games have tried to emulate the good ol' MoM over the years, few came somewhat close, but none matched it brilliance. And the great thing was, it was pretty simple. Devs tend to overcomplicate things nowadays, it doesn't have to be that way. Lots of examples out there, MoM is one of them.
As it is now, I'm more likely to install MoM via dosbox (again!), then play any of the clones.
Comment has been collapsed.
Completely agree. Age of Wonders III wanted to be this but was pretty disappointing, IMO. If you like the genre I can recommend Endless Legend quite highly, although it doesn't have the spell research and casting aspects.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, AoW III is one of the games I had in mind when I was talking about "overcomplicating" in the post above. There are just needlessly many unit types, traits, skills and whatnot. MoM achieved this and much more with far less.
I actually tried Endless Legend. I really miss the spells and casting, but other than that, I think it's a very well made game. The main reason for me not playing it more is lack of time. But I fully intend to some time in the future.

Speaking of Master System, Sega really could release the first Phantasy Star. Not remake, just release it through that Sega Classics pack.

Wouldn't work, it only emulates Mega Drive titles. They would need a new emulator for that.
Granted, changes are coming, but looks like that is front end stuff only.

Underrated classic. I've always been a fan of Tom Clancy games and I thought this game nailed it. It was just a bit short.
Comment has been collapsed.
American McGee's Alice, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines (more like do it properly this time kind of remake), Heroes of Might and Magic III, Duke nukem 3D, Mafia 1, Hard Truck Apocalypse (what can I say, it's my guilty pleasure).
I'd also say System Shock 2 but it's in the works already.

There is basically no difference between different meele attacks, the special abilities are very unbalanced, regardless of the roleplay discussions there's no real consequence, and altogether it's unplayable without the fan patch.
I love the game personally, but there are plenty of errors in it.
Comment has been collapsed.
The main difference between melee attacks is that the hitboxes are different, in addition to the damage output being different for most. I found them distinct enough.
They're meant to be imbalanced. It's a roleplaying game. Some run-throughs are meant to be harder than others, hence why Nosferatu is designed to be the most challenging. You may not agree with it, but it's actually one of the things most of us VtMB fans love about the game. Were it a PvP game, sure, your point would stand, but this is a game that thrives from such differences in playstyle.
I'm not sure what you mean of the lack of consequence? You've more control over how to interact with things in V:tMB than in any other game I've ever seen. The amount of roleplay immersion is phenomenal.
Sure, it's unplayable because of Activision's sabotage, but it runs perfectly fine with the unofficial patch, and Clan Mod adds a lot more to it. Add in things like the follower mod for a proper Toreador run or the frenzy mod for a proper Gangrel run.. there's a massive amount of replayability in the game.
Comment has been collapsed.
I didn't.
I meant it's way too easy very often.
What I meant is no matter what you say to whoever in 90% of the time, doesn't really make a difference along the way, they may have a different reaction but nothing really changes.
It would still be nice if you didn't need these, tho.

I'd rather have a new Vampire the Masquerade game I think. Mafia is not that old and considering there is Mafia 2 and 3 comming out soon, I don't think there is point in doing that.
Comment has been collapsed.
HoMM III would be my wish here as well. But the way things are now, I doubt it's getting remade. They're just making sequels and I cant decide which one's worse. HoMM III was just plain special, somebody should just do a full makeover and not touch anything.
Comment has been collapsed.
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines could use a remake. polish up the graphics, restore cut content, add some extra stuff and, of course, fix all the bugs (thankfully there are fan made patches)
Knights of the Old Republic 2. restore cut content (there was a lot), fix bugs and polish up... and completely ignore the so-called-cannon established by the mmo... sadly not likely to happen, but we can dream
Elder Scrolls: Arena, Daggerfall and maybe Battlespire
Dungeon Keeper. and not into a pay to win phone game either
Comment has been collapsed.
Patch+ restores cut content, so that's already done. There's texture mods for the graphics- they won't make the game comparable to modern games, but they help. There's basically no bugs with the most recent unofficial patch, and Clan Mod adds extra stuff.
Looks like you've got everything you asked for. ;)
ShadowHunter: Bloodlust is a more action-oriented spiritual successort to V:tMB, you may wanna give it a look as well. :)

What made GoldenEye revolutionary is that it was the first game to really do console multiplayer shooters right - hell, it was one of the first truly great multiplayer shooters, period. But right now, shooters aren't new anymore, and the genre has been refined to the point that new shooters offer very little that's truly new or revolutionary. So it'll be just another stealth/shooter multiplayer game in a world full of them.
I'd rather preserve the memory of it being a phenomenal gaming experience than to realize that it's no longer anything special.

i liked the story, but i didn't like how they simplified everything so much.
1 type of ammo, you WILL finish the game with all biomods because there are x3 more than required (but i liked the difference between legal and black market augs), generic biomod upgrades, merged dx1 ending.

Everything that mod does is change some maps completely, apart from that, no, I do not think that is even close to being an alternative to a proper remake made by SE.

I really want to see a good remake / sequel for Railroad Tycoon.
Other than that, I've seen too many sub-par remakes cashing in on the name. And a lot of classic games just aren't worth remaking, because what made them special at the time isn't quite so special these days
Goldeneye, as someone mentioned. It was a revolutionary shooter, but shooters have evolved way beyond that. The remake that was made recently just wasn't special.
Punchout? without the offensive stereotypes and against far superior fighting games, it lost its charm
Thief - this has been censored because children might read this
2D Super Mario peaked with "World". I'd rather replay that than New Super Mario Whatever
Hell, one of my favorite games growing up Sun Tzu's The Ancient Art of War would basically be remade as Total War.
The only game I'd really want to put on this list is Torment, but the remake/sequel is already in early access.
Comment has been collapsed.
I know all of those games, too. We can be old, together. D
Comment has been collapsed.
Count me in the Railroad Tycoon club too! Of all the sequels, attempted remakes and clones out there, I still like the 1990's original best!
I could totally play that right now....
Comment has been collapsed.
FYI the original was released in the public domain when the abomination was released.
But yeah, the original is by far the best. RRT2 was pretty good too, and quite different (as opposed to, say, civ 2 which was really just more of the same, but isometric)
Comment has been collapsed.
All of those big first-kinds were amazing. It seems like a lost art in the gaming world. Sim City, Civilization, and Railroad Tycoon had the perfect complexion to a simple formula. For some reason, Railroad Tycoon got shafted on remakes/sequels.
Comment has been collapsed.
let's be fair. Civ II was basically civ I, but isometric. Civ IV is not much different from those two, just more of the same. And, IMO, Civ V sucks donkey balls.
Sim City 2000 was awesome, no argument there Haven't played later incarnations, but from what I understand it was more of the same before turning into a disaster.
Railroad Tycoon II was quite different compared to I, so 10 points for trying. It was a good game in its own right. I can't comment on III, but, Railroads was an attempt to go back to basics, or to remake the game a la Pirates, , except that the developers misunderstood what made the game so great, and fucked it up (hell, it played like a damn iphone game)
On the other end of the spectrum, Total War progressed by leaps and bounds, but got too big and bloated, to the point where I kinda stop playing about half-way through. In Crusader Kings II I once managed to conquer the entire world - but the game just keeps chugging along. Seriously, I conquered the whole world, and the game didn't end. How does the game not end?
Note: I recently acquired the new Master of Orion, but I'm afraid to play it. I only bought it because it came with MoO and MoOBaA - still the finest space 4X games ever made

Battlezone II - Battlezone Redux was just recently released. I'm hoping they'll eventually do the next one!
Monster Truck Madness 2 - (I would also be happy with some other awesome realistic monster truck game with multiplayer that is similar)
Urban Assault
Unreal - (NOT Unreal Tournament)

I'd go for a version of 'Shadow of the Colossus'. That game wasn't quite like anything I've played before or since. The combination of solitude with the amazing boss fights and sad, spooky atmosphere was great.

Sim Life. I'd like to play something similar with modern UI and visuals.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes! (I hate to say it, but perhaps they were thinking of this when they made Spore?) But yeah, the idea of 'Sim Life' intrigued me as a kid, but I think I was a bit too young for the game itself. I'd love to see a modern version.

What spore "could have been" makes me sick at my stomach. It was one of those games where your high hopes get dashed as you play it.

Yeah, I never did get around to playing it. But I was very excited when I read some of the material about what they were developing, and significantly less excited about what they released. (Not for the last time. Fingers crossed for 'No Man's Sky'...)

I was talking to my brother tonight and we were reminiscing about the great games Epic Megagames produced back when we were kids, especially One Must Fall: 2097. It's a fighting game that you play as the pilot of a many-story-tall robot. There were multiple pilots with different strengths, a verity of very distinct robots, arena hazards, and it all ran smoothly on our 486. What's not to love?
That got me thinking, how has that not been remade? With 'Pacific Rim' surely this is an idea whose time has come again. Or at least, I wish it was. (Apparently it was remade once already in the early 2000s, but that version wasn't any good.)
What are some other games that people would really like to see remade or updated? Lots of things just keep getting sequels even though they lack merit. What are some things that went away and shouldn't have?
