I also tried to vote for Digital Homicide as "best" dev, but you can't actually choose them since they have no homepage on Steam :/

The “Game of the Year” Award: Monster Hunter World (Probably the only AAA game I'll play this year, so an easy choice)

The “VR Game of the Year” Award: Hellblade VR (I haven't actually played it, but I played the regular version and if they managed to make it playable in VR, they deserve some kind of recognition)

The “Labor of Love” Award: Stardew Valley (I usually vote for Terraria on this kind of thing, but the latest update is taking forever to come out, while Stardew had 1.3 this year)

The “Best Developer” Award: Tin Man Games (They kinda messed up with Fighting Fantasy Classics but I still love what they do)

The “Best Environment” Award: SOMA (It was either that or ABZU or the Coral Highlands from Monster Hunter World - easy to see a pattern here)

The “Better with Friends” Award: Duck Game (I don't play MP games much, particularly if they're competitive, but this one is just amazing)

The “Best Alternate History” Award: Crusader Kings 2 (They got in there because of the "animal kingdoms" in their latest DLC, I'd take a hedgehog empire over Aztec cyborgs anyday)

The “Most Fun with a Machine” Award: Jalopy (Not really a mech person, unless they're super bulky things that shouldn't be able to work in the first place)

Focusing on releases or DLCs from this year only.

  • Game of the Year: Kingdom Come: Deliverance
    Easy pick.
  • VR Game of the Year: TES V Skyrim VR
I don't play VR... But Skyrim VR was released this year and people were putting in hours into it, so...
    Wish we could skip categories.
  • Labor of Love: Endless Legend
New DLCs this year. Great game.
  • Best Developer: SCS Software
Great games with much love put into them, always expanding.
Also free events which give new items that you can trade is a win.
  • Best Environment: Endless Space 2
    Mmm, pretty space...
  • Better with Friends: Stardew Valley
Got the 1.3 multiplayer update this year.
  • Best Alternate History: Hearts of Iron IV
My buddy plays it all the time, then it must be good, right? Had new DLCs come out this year.
  • Most Fun with a Machine: American Truck Simulator
Tough call. Could have gone to ETS2 too.

GOTY - Shadow of the Tomb Raider
VR GOTY - Talos Principle
Labor of Love - Path of Exile
Best Developer - Klei
Best Environment - Final Fantasy XV
Better With Friends - Vermintide
Best Alternate History - We Happy Few
Most Fun With a Machine - Far Cry 5

I have played a few hours of Path of Exile and one level of Vermintide. I have played and loved many Klei games. Other than that I am totally voting for games from 2018 that I have not played. I just like hankering after them and dreaming of the day I can afford to put them in my library, install them, play them for five minutes and then never play them again.

  • The “Game of the Year” Award > Kingdom Come: Deliverance
  • The “VR Game of the Year” Award > The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR
  • The “Labor of Love” Award > Warframe
  • The “Best Developer” Award > THQ Nordic
  • The “Best Environment” Award > The Witcher® 3: Wild Hunt
  • The “Better with Friends” Award > The Forest
  • The “Best Alternate History” Award > Assassin's Creed® Odyssey
  • The “Most Fun with a Machine” Award > From the Depths

Initially wanted to go with Digital Extremes as best dev but then i remembered the Titan Quest expansion and in general the love all their franchises get, especially old ones, so THQ Nordic it is.

I did this "the right way" - only nominated games released in 2018 or (if it makes sense for the category) with new content released in 2018

Still not sure what I´ll pick as "Game of the year" and "Better with friends", but here is the rest:

VR Game of the Year: Subnautica (as in "What I´d play first if I could affort VR")
Labor of Love: Stardew Valley
Best Developer: CD Project Red (guess they could just send out this reward right now, no need to wait)
Best Environment: Assassins Creed Origins (because I don´t have Odyssey yet)
Best Alternate History: Fallout 4
Most Fun with a Machine: Nier Automata (can´t believe I havent seen anyone vote for this.. I mean come on people, this one is obvious!)

Game of the year: should have been Final fantasy XV, but i've changed my mind due to random irritating crashes.
My personal 2018 GOTY God of War tho.
