There was a 10 Euro off code, 1 use per account. You had to be in or proxy to a country that uses Euro to get to the proper section of Ubi's store, then use the code. Games under 10 Euro were free, and a handful of all their games give Steam keys instead of hooking it to their new UPlay thing.

it is unlikely Ubisoft are stupid enough not to expect this kind prob. U think a multi million gamedev run by idiots? This are just some a public "stunt" use to grab more customer that not using Uplay, to spread Uplay client installed. EA did it, Ubisoft follows, If u grab a game, u have to have Uplay acc/client installed to play. If ubisoft really serious about stopping exploit, they could have easily make the game cost min $1 or have new Accs that is less than 1 week old not eligible for promo unless they purchase something with real money.

those are small titles from ubisoft, if it is not for the promo, it wouldn't sell anyway.
these also "stunts" happened on the recent Microsoft windows8, guess what? it sells pretty well @ $15, the next few days Microsoft announced they sold 4 millions digital copies. claimed "proves that the public "likes windows 8. /sarcasm This also make share holders happy = mission accomplished windows 8 does "sells pretty" well.

Although some were steam keys I agree that Ubisoft must have known was going to happen. I mean EA only just did this. These Games Companies are not run by idiots who do these things willynilly without any thought.

I think they should be suspended because they're exploiting the keys for their own gain (Contribution Value, Trading for other games, etc.), but I don't really mind that people exploited the keys ONLY FOR THEMSELVES.
That does not mean they get x10 of every key to trade with anyone on SteamTrades, I'm okay if they just wanted the games in their own inventory, or maybe a friend asked for a game and they gave it to them.

They did that to give away on this site and to trade for other games on Steam Trades. I wouldn't mind if people just got "The Ship" for only themselves and if they want to exploit x99, then go ahead. Keep it to yourself though, don't give it away, don't trade it for anything, just keep it :|

Has anyone actually been suspended? I know there were warnings, but looking at the main page there are plenty of these Ubisoft games actively being given away.

How would an SG user who doesn't visit the forums know about this? Seems odd to ban people for not really breaking any 'official' rule.

People may not know that gifting a free game is a bannable offense. Many people have given away free copies of DOTA or The Ship with no issue so they may think that any free game is fair play.

Those games have been given to them from the developers. Different scenario all together.

Keep in mind I'm only playing devil's advocate here. I'm not planning on giving any of these games away myself. All I'm saying is that I can understand how some users may not expect that this is a bannable offense.

Someone who made one giveaway shouldn't be suspended in my opinion. Those who abused the system and made multiple accounts to get a bunch of games should be though. This is theft and it shouldn't be encouraged on SG.

Oh, that's a shame because I enter the giveaways because I want to play these games but not too sure now.

Nobody tells me what to do, okay?

Unless you know the giver or know the rep of the giver winning here is a gamble... I have a few wins but sadly one of them was never sent to me, what makes it sad is that it was a Magicka Nippon giveaway the user crapped out on. BUT unless the account suspension is permanent the giver still may give the game. I've seen some of the top givers suspended temporarily and they still gave the games... /thread

Suspensions does not always mean you won't get your game. Granted only mods and the punished user can see the length of time of suspensions it is not always permanent and if you do win a giveaway of a suspended user then we can let you know the length of the suspension rather than keep you in the dark. Just ask in support and we'll tell you.

Exploiting promotions by breaking it's rules to get more free games and then giving them away is a pretty messed up thing to do. When you go beyond the promotions 1 free game you're pretty much stealing. I don't see what's so hard to understand.
