everyone is nice to me im nice to everyone.
I guess you have bad luck
Probably the polite side of this site will vanish when this site is growing.
But right now i like it

After reading your thread, I can honestly say that you've never met me.
Ask anyone that I've won a game from or even anyone that's won a game from me, I'm always super polite and I never forget to thank someone when they've done something nice for me.
You can't judge the few by the majority of bad apples on this site. :P

While I agree with the fact that you shouldn't expect anything back, it's common courtesy. Aren't we human beings? If I gave you a copy of Borderlands 2 right now, would you not want to thank me? Or would you just be all like "lolk" then remove me as soon as you received it?
Courtesy. Treat others the way you want to be treated and all that stuff. Now, I know this is the internet, but we're still capable of a simple act of saying "thanks" at least. Not a very difficult thing to do, y'know?

Perhaps it's the culture in some countries not to express thanks. I have no idea, and I always express my thanks, but it's conceivable that this may be true.

It's really discouraging when you gift someone a game and they either don't say anything or even aknowledge you're there... And the 1s that try to scam more from you, I dunno, just feels as if it takes a real cunt to try to scam you after you buy something just to give it away free to them. I don't expect praise or anything, "thanks" is enough...It'd just be nice to go away from the situation not feeling negative :p Neutral would do.

I like to think I'm kind enough to say thank you. Even if you were so impersonal as to e-mail me the key to the game I won. I always give my thanks, and I always try to make friends with the people who give me these things. Granted, I've received various acts of kindness where someone will toss me a bundle key, and I thank them profusely; because such things are generous indeed. The price doesn't matter, it's the fact that someone out there was good enough to do it for you. I think a lot of people look at this website as a competition and a method of getting free stuff, and that's the problem. The endless stream of thank-yous on a giveaway are really thoughtless and empty. They don't really care unless they "win."
It's why my giveaways are always on the forums. People here are a lot better about the social aspect of this website...Although I've gotta come out and say that some of you guys are assholes. Not gonna lie. But it's the internet, if you're a carebear you're gonna get stomped.

+1
Seriously, gtfo with this text shit. Didn't you people learn to fucking write sentences and paragraphs in school?

not everyone are the same, people are different.
Maybe you are just unlucky and all your giveaways winners are 10 years old kids or just bad people
in my opinion calling out the comunity just for the 50% 60% (or maybe less i don't really know) of not grateful people is wrong.
Joining a private group is not a bad idea :)
Sorry for bad english

you need to understand this site is made mostly of leeches, only a few of us are actually friendly

While there are a number of socially stunted jerks who can't manage simple courtesies that normal people take for granted (God bless the internet...), I wouldn't write off the whole community because of a few bad eggs :)

Private groups help you avoid such things.
As much as i enjoy gifting to a random person in public giveaways, and had the pleasure of knowing some very nice people, there are also a lot of douchebags around.

mostly (please, honest to god, prove me different) just sucks.
I know it's my second thread about this, yadda yadda yadda.
The nicest guys (and scammers) you meet, are actually on the steamtrades site, but over here?
I can set contributor as high as i want, i still meet greedy douchebags, who don't even accept a friend request.
Not to mention a single thank you on steam chat window...
I know that there will be lot of people who just say, but you do it for yourself, out of generosity... and so forth...
But where is common politeness? if i'll get gifted something, even if it is Max Payne 3 Special Edition Dlc Content, i have at
least the courtesy to say
Thank You
You can delete me after that, all you want, i don't care.
But is that so fucking hard? Is it asked too much out of nowadays people? Am i surrounded by ungrateful 10 year olds?
Is that it? What do you think?
Let me know, i'm getting tired of this situation.
Maybe i'll join a private group, although i despise most of their "special" rules, (You have to do this, and that and so on)
Anyway, Happy Holidays, i'm drunk right now (Christmas Party), that's maybe why i wrote that stuff,
but you know what they say about drunken people...
Edit: So it seems, that my experience was very well different, than many others around here.
I just wanted to thank your for your feedback here in general, much appreciated. Have a happy holiday!
