To the SGer with the best taste in music - Rest in Paradise friend...

Thanks canis for letting us know. I wish this news had never arrived.
I still remember our first talk, when he created so many NSFW game giveaways. I remember, then, telling him that I would add him to the blacklist because I had pages full of those games on SG. After a short time icaio added me to the whitelist and so did I. This made the situation worse, because his whitelist was full of them as well lol :'D
Last year I won Tallowmere from him, a game that he advised me to play because he thought it was fun and a true masterpiece. This remains my biggest regret about it, because I have yet to try it. I would have preferred to tell him how right he was. So, in his memory, I think I'll start it and, for the first time, I'll also try to unlock all the achievements in a game.
I was very lucky to have been able to exchange a few words with him, a guy always with positive vibes.
And with a smile I want to thank him, because I believe he has lightened our days. Good bye, icaio <3

I don't interact much and opened this thinking it was a joke post. I won't pretend we were buddy buddy or anything but I did recognize the name from seeing it quite often. And I find this news unfortunate.

Rest in peace icaio :(
You will be missed 🫂
If they say
Who cares if one more light goes out?
In the sky of a million stars
It flickers, flickers
Who cares when someone's time runs out?
If a moment is all we are
We're quicker, quicker
Who cares if one more light goes out?
Well I do

Genuinely heartbreaking news. He was such a chill, friendly guy, and unbelievably generous. I didn't interact with him much directly, but he did send me my first gift on SG, and it was always fun seeing his posts on the site.
Here's another giveaway in his memory.
May he rest in peace.

Rest in peace! once i was discussing something about my low win ratio on a thread and he added me to his whitelist. He was a pure gem.

This was totally unexpected and came as a big shock. There were times when icaio went a bit quiet in the forums and i thought it was one of those where he wanted a bit of downtime. Was expecting him to suddenly come back with a bang which he often did to make many people happy on the giveaways and in the forums. I am lucky to have interacted with him quite a lot of times over the years and considered him to be an integral part of the whole steamgifts experience. Gonna miss his jovial nature and cheer he brought to this place. May you rest in peace.

I hardly remember crossing words with him, but he was one of those guys that keep this place alive in many ways.
Rest in peace energetic man.

Hey all. I am going to start by saying that I do not have any more information than what I am sharing in this post.
EDIT: as it turns out, I do have some more information
As some of you know, icaio has not been on SG for a while, and he hasn't logged into his Steam profile either.
I posted on his Steam profile a few weeks ago, just a quick note saying I hoped he was okay.
Yesterday I received a friend request on Steam from someone I did not recognize. I didn't see any obvious red flags, so I accepted.
This new friend sent me a message today, saying that they were icaio's cousin, and they saw my post on his profile and wanted to let me know that icaio passed away on September 30.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that icaio was an absolute legend of Steamgifts. His generosity, sense of humor and thoughtfulness came through in every 'showerthinking' post and every 'trash' game giveaway and every time he helped to solve a derailment in the community train.
Before I visited Rome a few years ago, caio volunteered to give me his mobile number so I could ask him real-time questions while I was in Italy. And that's exactly what I did! So we didn't quite get a chance to actually meet in person, but it was fun to chat with him while we were in the same country.
Not much more to say right now. Just R.I.P. to icaio, he will always be a Steamgifts legend.
