When I go to the store page for TF2, instead of buy, it says "Team Fortress 2 Free Week" or something.

Lol, if you take a look at the comments on the link I posted, it seems a lot of people are pissed off about this. I dunno why, I'm stoked.
@Fishpen, go look at the Steam store page for TF2 :http://store.steampowered.com/app/440/?snr=1_4_4__13

They are implementing some new system to keep the cheaters and idlers out, and every gamer was 10 at some point... Instead of calling them noobs, teach them the ropes, how to play.

I just popped out of a random pub server with a 5:1 KDR and 12 dominations. Besides once earlier this week to warm up, I have not played TF2 in something like 2 months. Hopefully this wears out after a week or so...
I think I am going to take part in that mentoring program.

There are a few small benefits to having the "full" version, which still requires some money to be spent.

indeed. you get some limitations when you got the game for free, but those are removed once you spend any amount of money on the game, either by having purchased it before or by spending money in the shop

This is what you get if you have purchased the game.

It's the coolest hat you can EVER get and ever will see. Definitely worth your 20 bucks.

Hey hey! I just joined the site and was wondering about gifting TF2 as I still have it available to gift when I got it along with Valve Complete Pack. I suppose when gifted it will unlock premium account but to make sure I asked on Steam forums as well. And how am I supposed to make a giveaway with it here now? :P
EDIT: Official FAQ says that when you purchase a retail version it counts as a premium upgrade. Nothing said about gifting copies but it's very plausible it's the same.

If I understand properly, this list is taken from Steam somehow. Is the removal of TF2 from the list some sort of foreshadowing to the rumors flying around about perma-free TF2, or is it a site bug on this end?
EDIT:
Looks like I got my answer

EDIT 2:
It would appear purchased TF2 accounts still have many benefits, so I still want to gift this baby.
