This happens every fucking year. You would think that with their budget they would be able to handle the server load during sales, but no.

I join the game via my mobile. I closed the game and now I'm level 9 and racking up some gold. So mysterious!

Perhaps requiring people to click and play a game wasn't the best way to minimize the crushing server loads associated with the beginning of a Steam sale....
