Gemcraft - Shadow Chasing "Steam Version Recommended"

Indeed, during the 90's Starcraft/warcraft era, there were a lot of TD maps, you pretty much named some of the popular ones while there are thousands to pick from. Yet half the gamers in this comunity were still unborn or even in nappies when TD came out. so not many would go around playing good ol Warcraft 3 anymore. but still highly recommended.

There are still plenty of people playing. I played online you td many times. And Legion TD is so popular that its hosted by many Hostbots too:) But you are right that it is older.. i get always surprised that someone doesnt have Warcraft 3;) After some weeks i always come back to that game and play there TDs:)
I know that Dota 2 has now Custom Games too but i am not into that so i dont know what kind of TDs there are available and if they are any good. But that could be an option if you dont own Warcraft 3;)

Entry level tower defence? Well you may appreciate Super Sanctum TD. It goes for around a dollar or less on sale, a nice difficulty curve, relatively short however, but a nice game nonetheless.

Just going to list some games.
Plants vs Zombies 1 (Garden warfare is more like a 3rd Person Shooter, but ignore it)
Sanctum 1 and 2
Dungeon Defenders 1 and 2
Orcs Must Die 1 and 2
Defense Grid 1 and 2.

It's actually a blizzard game, but starcraft 2 has really great tower defence games!

I just have to put a plug in for Defense Grid (original). My all time #1 game on steam in playtime. I've played a few others, but Defense Grid is tops in my book and I keep going back to it. Lots of different game modes for tons of replayability.
Some of the levels will be hard, but you can work up to them. I think it has a great learning curve. The last map pack (Containment) is easier than some of the others. You can also play so that you don't have to save all the cores and that makes it a bit easier. That's how I learned. At first I was happy just to clear the levels with some cores left, and then I went back and worked up to gold level.

I'm looking for an entry level TD. Something that won't dump a bucket of feces on my head in the 4th stage kind of thing. I already have Yrminsul, Sanctum 2 (this one has a good co-op mode), Rush for Glory, Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate and Particula.
Edit: Massive thanks for the recommendations! I put a lot of games on my wishlist now. :)
