You want to see something like this happen on a monthly basis?
Game | HLTB | Status |
---|---|---|
Voodoo Garden | HLTB = 18 hours | Beaten (Working on 100%) |
The Hex | HLTB = 5 hours | Beaten |
Hey, I think that changing it to 10 days is a great idea. I would suggest that it start on a Friday so that it will include 2 weekends. I think this would be a pretty good way for people who don't have as much time on the weekdays to get involved.

Yikes had to edit The Sacred Tears True since for some reason I swear I saw achievements and then couldn't find it. I guess that's what happens when you try to decide things like this while at work. I would be changing to Voodoo Garden and I have added links to the achievement pages.

Starting The Hex tomorrow! Can't wait I saw the trailers and I thought that I really wanted to play it. Played quite a bit of VooDoo Garden yesterday and I'm liking it quite a bit. It's kind of a clicker, but I like the aesthetic and decent progress requires you to be very active.

I have Last Day of June as well. Might have to bump it up on the priority. Games like 11-11 make me feel like playing To the Moon again haha. I really love that game, played through it twice since my sister wanted to get into gaming and I played it with her when we were younger. Storytelling games are definitely more memorable than most of my 1,500 in CS not sure why younger me couldn't appreciate anything except getting headshots.

Looks like I missed Rakuen, added it to my wishlist since it's definitely right up my alley. Looks like there are lots of copies floating around so I hope I pick it up soon.

IKR 😂
Regarding Last Day of June: it does have missable achievements, in case you hate that sort of thing. It didn't really bother me much to go for a 2nd run just to get them as it's quite short anyway.

I love to do a blind playthrough first and then if I like a game I'll definitely go for the achievements if I can. Think I'll do this for 11-11 since I liked it quite a bit. Really enjoying the challenges since it helps me choose what to play.

It really was, looking forward to getting the 100% after I finish the rest of my monthlies and the games here.

I'll have to take a look at the achievments but if it took about the same amount of time then I'll probably just go ahead and do it. I'm going for 100% in Voodoo, but having a little bit of trouble because it's actually quite grindy in the last bit. I think I can finish the game tomorrow and should only have a couple of collecting achievements left.

you haven't previously started playing
Can't you make this some sort of percentage? Like, I don't know, 5% of the HLTB time? So that if a game is ~12 hours long and I've only played 30 minutes (4.2%), it's acceptable?
Comment has been collapsed.
Hm, I can't find it. So you really need to have 0 minutes playtime in the game?

Driftmoon - HLTB: 9 hours - completed
Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom - HLTB: 16 hours (idled for 2.5h) - beaten
At least you've chosen them for me in current PoP :P
Comment has been collapsed.
I started Shiness this year, tbh I dont really enjoy the game, its a lot of grinding and I am someone who's fine with grinding. Perhaps I am just bad at these action RPG which i am kind of new to. Important to note that, dont download the free language pack when you're playing. I started a playthrough and they are voiced in a language that is unique but also which I totally cannot figure and get into. I hope you have a better time than I do, tell me about your experience after playing.
Cheers, GLHF ^^

Yes, alot of grinding that I feel is not engaging. Same respawns and running around to engage them. How did you get the 100 fights with magic only? Do you use a specific Char?
I've been trying to grind it but after awhile I give up. Most of the time, start a fight press a melee button but not hit a target as I am impatient to wait for the cutscene to start combat. Got the melee one easily, not sure the achievement is bugged or not so put the game down for the grinding. Glad you enjoyed the story, I installed the language mod for the game so my playthrough is not in audible language to me XD

I played the last 3 days SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE, because I'm looked for a short game, like the brilliant first game.
Now I have 100% and 15.4 hours. :D
What an great game :D

Nice event! The revised rules seem much more attainable

Ok... In that case I guess I'll try to do Retro City Rampage and... Moero Chronicle... in that time frame. Definitely random games. XD
I'm sure this will totally work out. ^_^'

Bump, and also achievement pages links for quicker access:
Retro City Rampage
Moero Chronicle

That's what I find confusing about it. Wouldn't those stuff be under the "Completionist" time? The "Extras" thing sounds really arbitrary- how would people know where to draw the line as having completed the "Extras" (before just having done everything for "Completionist")?

hmmmm.. Is Higurashi - When they Cry: Chapter 1 - Onikakushi eligible? Technically it's not "0CV game", it's just free now; wasn't before
Comment has been collapsed.
not intentional, sorry. I wanted to include Hob because it's in my PoP list, and some VN as the second choice. So I searched for some VNs with length 10-15h — not a lot of choices, tbh, they are either too short or too long; so I came up with only two options and one of them isn't eligible

A few thoughts that might or might not be useful to you. Have in mind I don't want to change your mind about anything, just sharing my thoughts – even though it's not for me, I think the event is very nice!
+ I appreciate every encouragement to reduce the backlog.
+ It's not for hardcore gamers but you still need to be quite of a gamer to spend 20 hours on playing.
+ Fantastic it's not an achievement hunting, in my opinion.
+/- Personally I don't farm cards but there are people who do. It doesn't mean they've actually played the game but they have some playtime. Out of curiosity – how do you address such a situation?
+/- I wonder if it wasn't easier for you if you'd add first comment to which people would reply with games their going to play?
+/- Sending giveaway links via Steam might be a lot of work if there will be many participants. Personally I use whitelist feature for that because it's just one-two clicks on this site plus it's impossible to leak the link to the giveaway. Another option would be founding a Steam group but people would have to join themselves I'm afraid. Which means more work to double-check if it's not an impersonator.
- 20 hours (even in 10 days) is a bit much for people like me, who have jobs, families and other hobbies. It certainly is within my grasp but in the end I always prefer to split my free time between spending time with my girlfriend, meeting friends, video games, sports, board games, watching movies etc.

Yep, totally understand what you're trying to say - I have no problem with idling hours (as long as there's no achievements taken), many people have mentioned their idling time already - so that's not something I'm worried about. Achievements combat the idling time, because you can't have any to be eligible.
+/- I wonder if it wasn't easier for you if you'd add first comment to which people would reply with games their going to play?
It's easier to use the first comment to keep track of people once they have finished their two games - it keeps it all in one place.

Currently there's only about 20 people who have shown an interest, so it's manageable, if I need to change it for future events I will do so.

I've already answered this, and it's the whole reason around the way I've setup this event - if you don't have 20hrs to play two games over 10 days, then you definitely don't have the time to play the game that's being given away - get where I'm going with this?
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks for the reply! I'm not interested in the game you're giving away but I think I actually would be able to play a 60+ hour game, just in my own pace – if that's where you were going :) I think your criteria are pretty fair though so don't mind me :D

Well, I have other plans for these games (to test them for a review on ProtonDB) though why not two birds with one stone? If these are okay, I'd like to join. I may not end up in time but worth trying.

Remember to post your achievement links (and hltb links as well if you don’t mind) for the games You want considered for playing.
I recommend you post more than two games. This will give you options for the situation where a game you start playing you end up not liking and decide you want to try something else, then you already have a backup in place, and don’t need to ask for another check.
Thanks to all who have shown an interest so far. I think there’s about 25 of you at the moment :)

Sorry, I messed up and played Syberia 3 before the event starts, so I'll be changing it for Underhero - HLTB: 12 Hours.

Hi Maya, interesting event. Is it possible to play and complete more than 2 games for a combined of 20hrs? I am thinking of playing games from this Cryptic Bundle 9 the HLTB timings are low. I recently picked the bundle up and HoGs are always my goto games for short fun storytellings. They dont usually go above 8hrs from my past experiences. Most likely, I'll go for 100% Achievement hunting so it might take longer than usual. If they are accepted, I'll list the HLBT timings and achievement pages. Thank you~
EDIT:
Main Game | HLTB |
---|---|
Rise of Nations | Main Story: 18hrs |
FIVE: Guardians of David | Main Story: 17hrs |
Masquerada: Songs and Shadows | Main Story: 14hrs |
Rogue Wizards | Completionist: 18hrs |
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing | Main Story: 17hrs |
How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition | Main + Extras: 15hrs |
2nd Game | HLTB |
---|---|
Cat Quest | Main Story: 6hrs |
My Brother Rabbit | Main Story: 3hrs |
Punch Club | Main Story: 9.5hrs |
Cheerios, Happy Weekend ^^

EDIT: Chosen Combinations Priority |
Main Game | 2nd Game | Remarks |
---|---|---|---|
01 | Rise of Nations | My Brother Rabbit | Do I need to play 2 games? Considering the Main + Extras is 39hrs. I can find myself just sinking 20hrs+++ XD |
02 | How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition | Cat Quest | This is main game + DLCs timing, I own the DLCs |
03 | Rogue Wizards | My Brother Rabbit | There's only completionist time for this game |
04 | The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing | My Brother Rabbit | - |
Do let me know which combination is allowed. Thank you very much for the event and replies.
Warmest Regards, Cruse~ ^_^

My OP and many answers to questions already posted explain this event.
2 games, min. 20hrs.
If you're dead set on playing My Brother Rabbit (only 3hrs long), then you will need another game of at least 17hrs that will fill in the rest of that 20Hrs.
EDIT: RON + MBR are fine, VH:FC+MBR is also fine. but none of the others.
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks for the reply. I'll be playing RoN + MBR. I initially replied a 2nd comment before editing the table in, in the 1st comment. So I edited my reply into the 2nd reply instead for clarity of listing. XD Sorry for the confusion. Preference is by Priority order, so 01 then to 04.
Cheers again~

I thought I'd try my hand at an event. This is similar to cjcomplex's "Monthly in a Month" whereby you play 6 games within a month.
Mine is tentatively called "2 Games In 10 Days", or “The 20 hour Challenge”
Depending on how well received it is, I might make it a semi-regular thing.
THE EVENT HAS ENDED! The giveaway has now started.
Invites have been sent out. The giveaway lasts for 1 week.
FUN FACTS:
Rules Of Event:
The event will start and end within a specific time of 10 days as announced by myself
Play any TWO games that require a combined total of 20 hours or more to beat, within the event time *
Games must meet these requirements (and are subject to further discretion by myself):
Comment with the games you'd like to play; I also recommend having a backup game, just in case you don't like one of your first picks.
PLEASE post with links to HLTB pages and your achievements pages for the games you want to play.
I can then can confirm length, not started status, achievements, eligibility. I will reply only if there are issues with the chosen games.
This event is for entrance into a giveaway for Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Remastered
(Region-locked, so can't be activated in Japan, sorry).
Once you have beaten the two games, reply to first post of thread. I'll add you, and send the giveaway link on Steam (once it's live).
I will run the giveaway after the event is over, to give me more time to check and send invites, and set giveaway end-date.
If you're using HLTB, check the "Main story" time. This is the rough MINIMUM amount of time required to beat the game. I don't require you to 100% the game, I only require you to beat/finish the game. Most games have a "complete the story/game" achievement. If your game doesn't have an achievement to indicate you finished the game, then I will require some sort of proof that you have finished.)
