It would be nice if there were subfolders for the main topics so that if something is closed/finished it could then be moved to the correct folder. Not automatic (as that would involve too much code unless you were feeling ambitious). Just some place that people could manually move their topic to not clutter the original place.
For instance if I haven't been in Puzzles in a while, and start clicking on the latest ones that have entries, they all seem to be finished. It would be nice if then people could move them to another folder.. maybe Completed or Solutions.. something along those lines.

Would Sub Folders be nice???

Yes!
Meh.
No one would do it!! They could just change their title..
Potatoooooo
Just a few flipper babies!!

I think it would be nice to allow people hide topics they are not interested in. For example, I mostly check forum by most recent ones. When I would see off-topics or something that doesn't bother me in anyway (like, 'what's yor favourite pizza') I would just click a minus next to it and hide it. Then, even when people would bump this thread I wouldn't see it. Closed topics could be minimalized to one single line that would contain title or better - they would be 'moved' to my own hidden list.

This would certainly work too! Just a rejigger of a white/blacklist but for discussions as well. That would put the work onto the people that don't want to see certain threads. Yup, I'd use that!

Threads can be closed and pushed back to the end of the list of threads.
So the people that aren't doing that with their puzzles/deals when they are over probably won't use an option to move them to a finished subfolder either

hm, if i could mark a thread closed....without losing the appearance in the forum-listing, i would close them. As I´am often referring to older puzzles and I know many users take a look into it, while trying to solve a new one...I would have to link all of them in every new puzzle......not so comfy.
But i would use a subfolder option.

Closed threads are still there, they're just at the end of the list. They can still be found using the search feature, so if you use a keyword that appears in all your titles, people could use that keyword to get to your older puzzles

If I search for Adventurer in a different browser (not logged in in SG) I can´t see the older /closed Threads...

And if I search in this browser logged-in for closed-Thread-titles of others....they also do not appear.....

That's weird, I can see them.

EDIT. : ah, maybe you searched directly from the puzzles category ? Your older threads would not appear then since they are in the uncategorized category

I agree that people could just close them/change the title on them now that aren't doing it.
Kartyl's suggestion is a good one in that if we had the option of filtering our view, that would work as well.
