If I lose it I will kill myself
Aren't we being a little overdramatic ? :D

I know the pain. Hence why I ask people to +rep me on steam too, to have a backup if something goes wrong with steamgifts (or if they don't even use steamgifts).
Comment has been collapsed.
I will end steamtrades too IF they will delete all my feedback, but I won't quit trading.

Cant wait 22h to know what happes :D i think guys with 1500rep will burn SG server with flamethrower and scammer would be happy about that they got second chance bcs we cant see their -10 rep.
We rlly need some info from cg, but logically i expect our rep stay on same value as ended.
Comment has been collapsed.
I completly understand that. I quit trading pretty early because I kept getting real laughable offers.
Comment has been collapsed.
Overdramatic, yep. But he's not exaggerating. Nobody would like to lose his feedback, except of scammers. Losing the feedback would destroy traders.
Comment has been collapsed.
Removing feedback would be pretty stupid tbh, I am almost certain it will not happen.

is that so hard to notify the people before updating?

Barter.vg had been dead for over 6 months now. Without its admin around, we were left to determine what to do, especially now that new steam titles don't even get a title most of the time, making it hard to trade for them. Plus, the matching system is so frigging slow.
I'm hoping to have its replacement ready before the site hosting dies, in the meantime I've been scraping the site every day to keep track of wishlists, tradables and game data. Site should be usable right now (matching is about 1000 times faster), but I'll wait until I'm done reproducing the offer system or barter dies, whichever comes first. In three words, don't worry. Or is that two?

It's online but it's reserved to myself and my host (who's a well known SG community member, AFAIK).
I know it can be annoying to say things like that (believe me!), but I felt like I had to mention it, especially now that it's closer to completion. You can follow its evolution on the barter.vg steam group, under the topic that says 'building a replacement' or something.
At any rate, multiple good trading sites is best for everyone. Having everyone rely on a single site to determine game values or various policies is pretty crappy.

Yep, same here. I use barter.vg most of the time now because of its great features.

I would prefer something like tf2outpost, to be honest. :P

Just ran into the same page when going to update my thread... I hope we get some king of info soon.

Argh, no trades for today. ;_; Let's hope we'll see a positive change in the steamtrades section. :D

And our +rep has disappeared. Let's hope it's not permanent. :P

@Vercinger
i can see at your picture you posted up there that you are using windows xp
are you serious? its 15 years old
Comment has been collapsed.
oh, nice
but its too old, its a highly security risk
i wouldnt do any online-banking or payments on a win xp system
even the antivirus apps are not optimized for it, exception of company serurity software
Comment has been collapsed.
sry, dont wanna be mad, i just wanna say that its a security risk

So everyone says. But really, what other way is there to get malware these days other than via a browser? Now, once all browsers stop releasing security updates for XP, that's when I'll start thinking about dropping it. And considering what a huge number of people still use it, I don't see that happening any time soon. I wouldn't be surprised if XP becomes the first eternal OS, never getting completely abandoned.

thought for a moment the rep > got converted into giveaways entered (rep count 457 last time i checked) :-D

Woaah I'm hyped. I just hope we get our reputation back. I think it's a good thing that Gifts and Trades are being separated again. Like others said, a more advanced / prettier version of Barter would be sweet as its future is very vague since the owner disappeared a while ago.

You mean "compare my two giant-ass list to your two giant-ass list and if neither of us gave up halfway though, then let's just negotiate (and I mean try to outbid each other on who asks a more ridiculous price) 99% of the deal in chat" system?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes the current 'system' was extremely pointless and I haven't used it ever since I joined Barter over a year ago.
But what I liked is that you can add custom text, prices for certain games etc. where it can be hard / confusing on Barter with tagging and everyone uses different tags..
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes. And when you think of how easy it's to implement custom comments on individual tradables, it's even more unsettling... But for some reason the webmaster refused to do it (he ended up modifying his tag system to allow for custom numbers, which was pretty limited... As if you were using a ZX81 to write a novel...)

We all do. I suppose our +rep will return after the relaunch. :D

I see what's happening. SteamTrades is being moved back to it's own domain and separated from SteamGifts. Your rep won't be lost, it will just only be visible on SteamTrades going forward. This will allow for a distinct and separate focus on that apart from SG. SG and ST may even have different volunteer staff handling support requests and whatnot. That's my speculation.

https://www.steamgifts.com/trades redirects to https://www.steamtrades.com/ so its possible

I think you're right STB, 2 separate entities with the rep being shown on ST and the amount of giveaway entries being shown on SG.
Also I have noticed that "game already owned" re-roll tickets, the last week or so, are taking 3 to 5 days to re-roll so it's possible that some support member(s) were testing out things on the ST side.

Looking forward to it.
Hopefully with a way to negate impersonators and with some kind of support involved.

It seems steamtrades is being moved back to it's own domain like it used to be and anything trade-related is probably transferred over there and out of Steamgifts.

Sooo, Steamtrades is apparently getting relaunched. I wouldn't have noticed if the "Trades" button at the top of every page didn't change a bit just now. Can't find any announcements or discussions about it. So is this a surprise gift from cg to all of us? :)
EDIT: Official announcement has arrived
