I've seen someone badly break their arm. Breaking bones is supposed to be one of the most painful things that could happen. But the people who tell you that, have never pulled all the tendons that connect their leg to their foot away from the bones in their foot. F#@k me sideways that hurt. I'm in fact going to go ahead and say that there isn't much at all worse than severely damaging your tendons.
Plus the injury stays with you much much longer than any broken bone. I hurt my foot 5 years ago and I still need to be careful when stepping off the pavement / sidewalk that I don't injure it again.
Other painful things I've done:
Got cramp in my leg so bad that a golf ball sized lump of muscle was sticking out of my leg, I couldn't walk for five minutes and it took nearly a week before I could walk again without pain.
Cut my foot open (about 1" deep) and ended up with a load of gravel & mud in the cut and had to wash it out with a hosepipe.
Chipped my tooth open so the nerve was showing. Accidentally touch the tooth with your cheek or tongue and it's like getting an electric shock to the face.

I was swimming when I did mine. Thankfully I can swim fine with my arms only otherwise it would have been really bad.

I have had some rather extensive jaw surgery, in which among other things they broke the upper jaw away from the skull in order to move it. All of that was of course painless since I was drugged but a week after the surgery the surgeon had to remove the stitches which ran in the front of the upper jaw just below the nose. He started by saying that in a minute I would really really dislike him and how right he was... Tears and stars in the eyes and shit as he cut them away with a pair of scissors and removed them with a twezzer.

Extremely big headache after brain tumor removal surgery. Yes... That was so painful...

not yet... I'm afraid I will never be cured, at least in my sh... country...:(

I hope you'll get better. Just recently a family member was diagnosed with a 10cm tumor inside her head but refused surgery because she fear complications from the surgery.

doesn't she fear complications from the... eeeh.. tumor? seriously, she should absolutely do the surgery, tumors are not to toy with.

She's taking some homeopathy pills, hoping that the tumor will just shrink away. I just cannot convince her to do the surgery instead. Tried everything I can.

You do realize that homeopathy is just a placebo? There's no actual medicine in them. She must be at least treated with chemo or radiation I guess. And ensure that her diet is healthy, there are a lot of cancer-fighting foods that you can eat and a lot of harmful ones you must avoid to get better. I always thought of being an oncologist and this case honestly touched me. Well... I hope that she won't regret her decision and will be fine!

I completely understand her... If my parents knew what things will there be after surgery I had, then I wouldn't probably had it... There are still many other ways which can help with tumors. I heard of a laser or something which can cure/remove such a tumor without cutting the body (or something like this). So almost 0 bad things after that.
I can't suggest You anything but it's good to get more info about it and the ways you can choose from to remove the tumor/to survive.
Also, I wish You and Your family member and Your whole family all the best and a lot of luck. I hope everything will be alright.

that tumor is considered to be benign. You might have to go through a lot, but you will be cured eventually and it won't kill you. I wish you a swift recovery!

I dunno, have you ever stepped on a lego before? That effin hurts!

I had in-grown toenails as a kid. I went into hospital to have one removed, that was fine, put to sleep, woke up without a big toenail. No worries. Then I got one on the big toe of my other foot. This time, I went into the doctor. He gave me local anesthetic, and proceeded to remove the nail and roots from one of my toes. My mother still has a scar on her hand from where I was digging my nails into her. Fun times. I did get a lollipop.

Lately I have been fighting with a infection in my toes because of that :( it is simply one of the meanest sort of pains you can get. No one steps on it while its fine. Suddenly you bump into everything and every one and everything steps on it :(

lol yeah. I remember. I'd freak out if anyone was in a 5 metre radius of my foot.

i had the same thing done but the local anesthetic did its job and i didnt feel a thing.

At least your doctor used anesthetic. Mine didn't. That was understandable, however, given the condition of my toe to start with. He would have had to put me out, totally, and there are risks to that.

Migraines bother you more than kidney stones? Really? I always worried that I'd get kidney stones but now I see I have nothing to worry about if migraines pain is worse :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Frankly, I don't know which is worse, kidney stones or migraines. Both of them make you wish you had something more pleasant, like mononucleosis.

Borken collar bone. was racing BMX and had a hard wreck. finished the race and something felt weird, packed all my stuff and got in carto go to hospital and as i reached for the gear shift my collarbone made a very loud POP sound and i made a really loud SCREAM sound lol. it was cracked and when i extended my arm out and to the side it snapped clean in half.
i got out of the car and sat on the hood and it took all the willpower i had and maybe more to not passout of start puking. i was freezing cold even though it was in the 90s outside and i was sweating like i was in a shower. the next few months were not fun, it didnt heal correctly and now i have pain from it daily

That was the first broken bone for me too. I raced BMX for nearly 5 years before this not to mention just riding around for fun doing all kinds of dumb**** that could have ended much worse lol. then theirs mountain biking which was great since i lived on a mtn top in the appalachians growing up.

I remember the time I came out of the water and forgot my sunscreen was gone...in Maui...in the summer.... Imagine blisters the size of half-dollars all over my back. It took months to heal.
However, that wasn't as painful as that time we were moving a refrigerator and dropped it on my foot. I was wearing sandals, so it was quite messy. I didn't break anything, but the doctor had to rip the rest of the broken nail out of my big toe so it could begin to heal properly. Without anesthetic. Thanks, Doc!

This thread is pure gold.
Other people's pain is always so humourous.

I actually find it a good read. It helps to keep my own problems in perspective.

Wart lasered off... The Doctor missed at one point... It made a black burn mark ._-

Walked around years with grown-in toe nails. Hit them against something daily. Had surgery twice for it with local anesthetic and even though it didn't work 100% I got the giggles instead of pain. It felt funny being cut. Broken fingers a lot of times, but never really hurt that much. I know, plucking nose hair, now that hurts.

When I was about 4 years old I fell down the stairs and I was completely fine, the next day I fell down 3 of the stairs and broke my wrist :') I've also had operations on the inside of my ears and the healing was pretty painful, I had a crazy amount of fluid on my lungs when I was a kid which caused pretty bad chest pains and I'd stop breathing in my sleep so my mum had to watch me sleep and nudge me every time I stopped breathing, I had internal bleeding in my leg and dented my shin (it went black o.O) from playing Basketball, I've head butted the crossbar of one of those indoor 5 a side football goals ridiculously and I've had a massive lump on my skull for 15 years (apparently we lost the match but I don't even remember any of it), I've had a verruca burnt off with liquid nitrogen, I covered one of my hands in boiling hot cheese sauce and burnt myself on an iron on the same day. I also nearly lost half of the tip of my index finger when I was cutting some bread, I slipped with the knife and looked down to see lots of blood and a massive chunk of finger just sort of flapping around so I panicked and called out for my partner who wasn't impressed :D I've broken various bones in my right hand, broken both little toes (stupid coffee tables/door frames) and had an abscess on/in my big toe after stubbing it in a park. Oh oh and my brother once rammed me in the face with the edge of his skateboard and broke my nose and there's a million more painful stories :')
If that wasn't enough I now have joint hyper-mobility syndrome, osteoarthritis in both legs annnnnd over sensitive nerves in my spine so every day is shitty! :D
(I don't care about grammar because I'm far too tired!)
Edit: Forgot about tattoo laser removal thingymabob, that fucking hurts!

"broken both little toes (stupid coffee tables/door frames)"
I think I read somewhere that at some point pretty much everyone has broken their little toes and just not realised it was broken - yes it hurts, but you might not notice if it broke.

When I was a little kid some lass dropped a full glass bottle on my head from the 4th or so floor. There was blood everywhere. My memories of that day are a little blurry but I imagine that must have been quite painful. If that doesn't count, I once had an excruciating toothache. I couldn't sleep for days due to the constant pain.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not had toothache thankfully, but I have managed to chip one of my front teeth open so the nerve was sticking out (as in, you could see the nerve). Touching that with my tongue / lips was like getting an electric shock to the face. Straight to the dentist and got a cap made for it, but in the same trip I had to have I think 2 x-rays and a mould made of my teeth as the injury had pushed the tooth out of alignment so I needed a temporary 2 week brace made to re-align it.
So there I was, with a cap over the broken tooth that they'd just said 'Be very careful, that cap could fall off' and the mould was essentially a block of sticky putty pressed onto my teeth, left to harden for a few minutes then ripped off smoothly. Thankfully the cap didn't come off with it. I have had that cap replaced / repaired 4 or 5 times now.
At the time that was the most painful thing I've felt, but it pales in comparison against tendon injuries.

aaand of course i end up hurting myself again xD
This time i was running with my dog and tried to out run him when i lost a shoe. Than there only was one way and that was down. Ended up with 9 huge bruises. 1 week after the crash they turned up yellow, and i still can't sleep on my left side XD
TL;DR
i should go sit on a chair and never move again XD
