Whatever this [! new to EGS] game is, they are giving it multiple times. What a cop out.

Swords and shield. That could be literally every fantasy or medieval game.
Another useless clue in a row...

Seems plausible there are 2 swords in the icons which may represent that it's a sequel or second game of sorts. And the blue color seems to fit as well. And it's a multi-player game, which are always looking to increase the number of players.
The colors seem to fit for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, but that game seems too new maybe? Still my bet is on that one :D
Torchlight II maybe?
Comment has been collapsed.
True, the colors seemed to match up very well but it's too new. Now I'm thinking it's just "Loop Hero" and the spoilers had the wrong date. Edit: after seeing the image from Wok I'm 100% sure it's Loop Hero, which also uses the blue and orange so that makes the most sense.

What if someone offered you a pack for a F2P game? :D https://www.epicgames.com/store/p/warframe--initiate-pack

I've played a bit on Game Pass at the start of the year, I think. Solo. Needless to say, I didn't make it very far, it was very brutal. I'm not saying that soloing would be impossible but unless they have rebalanced the game to be less punishing for solo players, it looks like it's reaaally meant to be played with a few friends.
Still, if it's free.... you can always try it at some point.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's early access though, there's still time to improve the game and this is a great way to get people to try it out and help grow the server, even if a little bit. Devs that put this much hard work into their game will always at least get a tryout from me. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth,

That's basically what I said with "Still, if it's free.... you can always try it at some point". Anyway...
Yes, devs have worked a lot on the game but it doesn't look like it has sold very well until now. And there's not many people playing. Yes, there will be (way) more when it's free on Epic (also meaning the devs did get a lump of money for that), but will it last? It wouldn't be the first (nor the last) Early Access game to be abandoned. The studio surely isn't running on an unlimited budget and if the game doesn't pick up more steam, that Epic money will possibly not last that long. You can't work on a game forever if it's not generating much sales. But yeah... it's worth a try and who knows? Perhaps that Second Extinction will become more popular.

This reminds me of Lemnis Gate as well. Which is why I'm strongly considering picking up that new bundle it's in. Looks like such a fantastic game but very low player base. Extremely low. My hope is that more dev teams see this and focus on both SINGLE PLAYER as well as MULTIPLAYER. That way if the servers die out there's still money to be made on the single player front.
I can't tell you how many games are released and don't become popular until MANY years later when they're all but forgotten. However, this only works with single player stuff. Multiplayer is do or die, seems too risky for me if I was an investor.

Now, that... that is something I truly don't understand. Coop / multiplayer can only get you so far. As you've said, having a proper single player campaign can save your game if the multiplayer part of it isn't popular enough and/or die quickly. I might be wrong but it seems to me that a lot of Early Access titles focus on being multiplayer first, and sometimes it's only that. Not everyone is into coop/multiplayer. I know I'm not, I way much prefer playing solo.
Also, the chances for a new game to be the next CSGO, PUBG or Hunt Showdown are very slim... so why don't they include a solo campaign too? I don't get it. Maybe they hope their game will sell so well that they'll have enough money to work on a solo mode afterwards... but that would be a huge gamble. O_o

Do you have a few examples? I can't think of any.

You know, I think it's because of exactly what you said. They want to be the next CSGO, PUBG and Hunt. Even Left 4 Dead has thousands of clones. Everyone trying to replicate that success.
I don't mind it, but the field is too cluttered to EXPECT success. You should play it safe first, build up a rep for making great games, then go for broke. Can you imagine a single player campaign of Second Extinction with Gears of Wars level of character development? Ugh, what a waste. They should strive to be more like Halo. Halo should be the measuring stick for all FPS games.
In terms of forgotten but revived games, 3 come to mind. Mind you these are old examples but examples I never forgot. Psychonauts (poor old Psychonauts), Bulletstorm (REALLY good FPS) and poor poor old Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne.
I remember when all these games dropped. They were soooo good. Critically acclaimed, but back then, gamers just weren't digging it. Today though, Pyschonauts 2 is doing well because of its cult classic status (still not well enough), Bulletstorm is well sought after because of its great reputation and Nocturne is boosted cause of the recent success of the Shin Megami games and its remasters.
There are plenty of other examples of this, but it just emphasizes that people need to make games that gamers can ALWAYS go back to. Even if it's sometime in the future. Stop making games that have a short shelf life.
(Sorry, I don't really know how to quote text like you did above)

Hmm yeah... well, I'm inclined to think that the market became somewhat saturated because some devs saw a way to maybe make a quick buck. For multiplayer games where there's no real story... when it's like battle royale, (granted that I don't know anything about game development), I guess it's easier, faster to make a game like that than a game with an actual story and deep(er) mechanics. Some studios seem to be ready to take that gamble and hope for a big pay-off. Hmm... I've never played Halo nor Gears aaand I have hardly any play time in Second Extinction so, no, I could not imagine such a thing. :D
Ah, it's funny that you mention Psychonauts. I've tackled Psychonauts 2 before the first game, even though I've had the first title in my library for ages. Great game, both of them. that said, I did prefer playing Psychonauts 2
By the way, to quote someone, you just need to put an angle bracket before the text you want to quote: >

I don't remember it being free before, but everyone has two in the library. One is the original and one is redux
edit: at least it showed me both versions yesterday. Now rechecking it, it does show only one for me never mind. Both versions are in my library. That whole launcher is clusterfuck of stuff, I love how search automatically redirects you to store but for searching in the library you have to use a different search bar

As far as I remember, it was free on Epic months ago, but I may be wrong.
Thank you for the clarification!
EDIT: I still have both versions, maybe it will be removed, too. :/
EDIT 2: The launcher is horrible, and since one of the last Updates, very slow when I open my library.

Perhaps, that I can't remember.. Happened to miss some free games myself :D But at least it didn't show up as owned for me
edit : If it's the same as steam, then both versions will probably stay in library (if i'm not mistaken about redux edition, as currently the design of launcher doesn't let me see the whole name of the game)

I don't think it was free before, but I could be wrong. Anyway, I think you're seeing the normal version (made with Unreal Engine 3) and the redux version (released a year later, made with Unreal Engine 4). You get both editions when you buy the game in any PC platform (Epic, GOG, Steam).
EDIT: The game was just released on Epic, "Release Date: 12/19/21" (source: in their store appears under New Releases), so no, it was never given for free before.
And yes, their launcher sucks big time...

Mutant Year Zero for tomorrow seems likely aswell:

Vampyr, Pathfinder, Prey...not bad. Vampyr and Prey are both games I would say I will get eventually on sale but never managed to. With Kingmaker, I was interested but the reviews particularly regarding technical issues were what stopped me from getting it.

Not a terrible selection this year, but not a ton for me.
Shemnue III and Neon Abyss from HC.
Remnant from EGS previously.
Already bought Loop Hero in April.
The others are not really my type, but Ill still grab them.
Interested if there are gonna be things for me, but it is still a pretty decent offering to people who dont own these.

It is 100% for sure Vampyr. The colors match perfectly, there's a tiny bat (referring to vampires), a coffin (again vampires) and the same stylized "V" on the coffin as the game has. It's a good game if I didn't already owned and played it on Steam.

Happy to see Mutant Year Zero as a repeat, it was the only free epic game that I missed.

Is it Prey? I don't remember the game very well, played it 5 years ago..:)
