Nope.. Everyone was panicking when it was January 1st but now no one gives a fuck. The guy that said that it's the end of the world actually apologized because none of his predictions were real. He was probably doing this for the money.

Actually, a lot of people do. Though it depends on what you mean by "world".

If you mean humanity's existence, then it's truly unpredictable. Assuming we manage to colonize the galaxy, that is. If we fail, continue reading.
If you mean life on Earth, it's going to die in the next billion or so years as the Sun gets brighter and evaporates most of the water on our planet.
If you mean the Earth itself, it will be destroyed a few billion years from now, as it gets consumed by the expanding Sun.
If you mean the universe, then, well, I'm not up-to-date on the latest theories. You'll have to do your own research.

well, they have a lot of conflicting theories, but some of the standard ones are the "great cooling" where all the stars go out, fall into black holes, which evaporate into gamma rays, which will eventually just run out of steam and nothing's left. other theories springboard off of that saying that "nothing" is really just frothing with stuff, so the more nothing you got, the more active it gets, so you could get just a spontaneous "big bang" if there was just a whole lot of nothing at all. then there's multiverse theories where each black hole buds a new universe so it goes on and on. and some other wacky ones like the universe folds around like a doughnut and eventually we'll just crash back into all the other stuff and start it again.

either way, I sometimes think we won't make it another year, let alone a trillion trillion... so I wouldn't worry too much. XD

long story short, the world IS doomed, but that'll not likely happen for a few hundred million years. by around 5 billion years from now, there won't be any earth to speak of. hope we stop messing around reality tvs and various fotm drugged out movie star dramas so that we can crack down on the science... time's a tickin' fast!

The only real threat is a Coronal Mass Ejection (Huge Solar Flare) that's due to occur sometime in late 2012/2013 that will effectively wipe out the entire world's electricity. Other than that, no :)
