I just saw this humble bundle a few moments ago and while I am interested in the HoMM games, I have to ask: is it just me or do most of those games work only with Uplay? Because that would suck a lot.

The icon below the game should tell you what platform it activates on.

Well there's already a thread about this bundle that explains where each game works but yes, essentially most games in it are Uplay only.

I see, well thanks for the help. Guess I won't get this bundle.

I was so psyched when I saw this, then I saw that 90% of it is uplay, pass :(.

They weren't even selling 90,000 copies. The Origin bundle sold more than 500,000

Yeah, but over an average of $12. Basically it is very much a niche bundle. Either you like and are interested in the games or you aren't. There is really no middle ground. The numbers reflect this. That's why lower sales volume but at a higher average.

Even those who like the franchise more than likely already have most of it. It was clearly aimed at introducing newcomers to the franchise.

Well I already had Heroes IV and V complete on disc, but I got it anyway since it might be nice to have a digital version of these games. I didn't have Clash of Heroes or Dark Messiah so that was a nice plus. Nor did I have any of the Might & Magic RPG games since I historically have not been into that side of the franchise. It would have also been easy for any Heroes fan to skip Heroes VI entirely on it's release (as I did) given how buggy and messy it reportedly was at launch and thereafter, making this a good opportunity to finally pick it up. I locked Tier 2 early at about $7 or so, so I ended up going with that and passed on Tier 3.

Most of them are only Uplay

If it was steam, I would have bought it. But considering the horror stories about uplay, I stayed away from it.

Beaten two games on uPlay, it was fine, no issues whatsoever.

I thought about buying might and magic 6 on steam. But then I saw the reviews with a lot of people having connection issues.
Decided to just buy number 5 on sale instead. I played AOW II and thought maybe this would be something I can enjoy. I would like to play the latest ones, but I am gonna listen to the feedback from the community and stay away from Uplay. A lot of Ubisoft games have negative reviews simply due to Uplay.

It was because uPlay was hammered. Now it's pretty relaxed, so there's no issue.

Some of the reviews are just bitter ones without basis.

For what it's worth, uPlay seems largely unobtrusive these days. As for the M&M Humble Bundle, none of the games require an internet connection at all times.

ETA: Do I like having yet another client? No. No I do not. But at least it isn't Origin.

Funny thing is, Origin>Uplay.

And Uplay works as long as there's no big release. When they release some big game, whole service is going down.

Having used both in the past few days, I would disagree; that said, I've never used uPlay around a big release.

At release - at least until like 50% of people who bought game won't surrender and stop trying to play it for a week, nobody will be able to log into Uplay...
