Best controller / your favorite for PC gaming?
I have a couple of XBOX 360 and they're ok. I also have a first generation Logitech Rumblepad which fits my large hands much nicer but only works with very few games. I just ordered a Steam controller to see if I can finally find a gamepad that I really like and that works with all games. In any case, I don't expect it to be better for anything that works fine with keyboard + mouse (or better yet, Logitech G13 + mouse, which is my preferred combination).

I have a third-party knockoff 360-like controller and it's... bearable. It's pretty good for action games. But first-person games, RPGs and the like feel much better to me if I play them with keyboard and mouse. And especially simulators, because a controller just doesn't have enough buttons for something like Elite Dangerous.

I'm using a Logitech F310 without vibration, but I'd really love to own a Steam Controller to play with. I was able to test that one at work and the feeling is totally different.

I have two F310 controllers and I managed to break one of them because I dropped it a few times on the ground.
It's not broken but LB and RB buttons are pushed in and I get no feedback when I press them but they work 99/100 times. It's a nice controller though but I need to buy a new one because it really bothers me and I want to reconfigure the controls and LB RB buttons are not reliable anymore so I try to avoid their usage :)
EDIT: if anyone can recommend me a controller, that would be very nice. I'm playing rocket league with it.

I bought an Xbox 360 controller last year for $15 (Might have been 2nd hand), but it works nicely. However I stopped using it now cause keyboard was easier to use >.>, some games still worked better on the controller though(so it wasn't a wasted buy.. I think).

Speedlink Xeox Pro Analog Gamepad
The controller has a xbox build and a switch at the back so you can swap between Xinput (Xbox) and dualshock (computer controller)
I forgot how to do the whole link text to url thing and can't find the discussion for it so here is the link

The Xbox One controller is an improvement over the 360 one and my current favorite - the microUSB connector is fragile, though. Now I returned and I'll get the new one (One S controller) when it's available. Bluetooth go!

Ummm, i was thinking to get steam controller (because of its integration with steam, maybe less compatibilty problems and future steam improvements etc..) but surprised to see 360 dominated poll so hard and now im confused :/

I think regular controllers and the Steam Controller are ment for different purposes. Regular controllers are great for racing games (because of the triggers) and console games (like shooters and RPGs with rather simple controlls) while the Steam Controller is ment to substitute mouse and keyboard for games with more complex controll schemes.

Hmm, thx for the explanation Sundance :) since i'm a total ignorant about consoles, i thought they served for the same purpose. So, according to ur explanation i better get steam controller because i want to use steam controller as u described by replacing keyboard&mouse. Especially for the games like NBA and similar.

I think so but I don't have a Steam controller so please don't take my word for it. If you want you can check out this thread about somebody who bought it and gave some feedback. Also maybe somebody you know has a console and you can borrow a controller for a testride. As far as I know PS4 controllers are nativly compatible with PC while the XBox 360 controller is as well but if it's the wireless version from an XBox 360 you'll need an extra cable to receive the signal (I think it's called a wireless dongle or wireless adapter). Basicly XBox 360 controllers for console and PC are exactly the same thing but the one for console comes without the dongle. I don't know if the XBox One controller is nativly compatible with PC or if you need extra equipment.

Again thx a lot buddy, ur responses being a good help. Purchase case is still early for me, i ve just grown an interest after i saw it entered a sale on amazon. So, i ll keep searching and getting informations about it. The post u mentioned also helped me, still i feel closer to steam controller. Tbh, if i didnt see this post and poll domination of 360, id never think any other options. Lets see what ll happen. Have a nice day and take care :)

Keyboard (logitech ultrax flat) and mouse. As for a pad I have DS2 with a special converter to pc, it works good (in win7+ x360ce install needed) but somehow without vibration in games (in settings it is available). As for now pad I used almost exclusively for pes.
