Hello Everyone,

I would like to ask you all, and read your different opinions about how well a system with different kinds of members on SteamGifts would work? Something like "levels" or "ranks" of members: There could be the average basic member, who doesn't contribute to SG at all and then maybe the bronze/silver/gold members who contributed with $xy, via giveaways. Also, giveaways could have an option to set the minimum "rank" of the member who may enter it? This way, more significant giveaways could target just gold members, or silver ones, or bronze ones, or could be available for anyone to enter.. you get what I'm talking about. This way, it wouldn't be necessary to crate different SG Groups for different people.

Please don't hate on me. I'm eager to find out what everyone else thinks about this!

Rank system is a good idea, as for me

I think a ranking system such as the one you suggested would in one way be an incentive for gifting initially. However I think in the long run would make the site too elitist. Eventually many if not most of the giveaways would target the higher ranks.

Would it be possible to make giveaways that only people below a certain rank could enter?

I dislike the idea. It favors those which have more money to spend for gifts.
At the end, you create a snowball-system. Those with much money have a good rank.
Those with not so much money in real-life will have a bad rank.
The more interesting titles will end beeing for gold members only.

And what's wrong with highlighting people who are giving things for free instead os spending the money on themselves?

Yeah. Pretty sure the people without enough money to create giveaways are already aware of how they differ from people like GlaPOS. What's wrong with rewarding the heavy givers with a visual token? Will it somehow harm non-gifters? If so, would they really, genuinely care? This is all relative to the concept of their being no "bad" rank, by the way.
