Steam Machine Beta Test/Steam Controller Impression Posted

Edit: I did some research and as far as I can tell, there is no NDA. So my wife has agreed to help me do an unboxing video. I will keep this thread as my central area for updates. If you have questions, I will do my best to answer them as I can. Thanks to everyone who said congrats.

Pre order versus system specs. I was not thrilled at increased requirements compared to black ops 2. And I own it on ps3.

Well for a single gpu it gots 690 beat. (and close to a 780 ti but titans cost alot more)

They added my free games today.
It is listed as
"SteamMachine and Steam Controller Prototype Beta
Complimentary" on my profile. The email stated I was going to get all of Valve's games but I noticed I did not get any Day of Defeat or Halflife 2 Episode 1 and 2.

To add, it seems neither was Left 4 dead 1, Counter-Strike or counter strike: Global offensive.

Also Have you gotten you ship info yet? (This not knowing when is going to bug me...all I can do is keeping my phone close to me at all times lol)

Congratulations. Such a shame that it was US only in the end.
Also, Valve said when the beta was announced that testers would be free to show anything about the prototypes.

"Will beta testers be allowed to share info about their experience and post pictures and opinions online?
Yes, that really is the whole point. The input from testers should come in many forms: bug reports, forum posts, concept art, 3D prints, haikus, and also very publicly stated opinions."

The crate it came in is very solid and strong foam inside. A bit overboard in terms of a sturdy case but wow, moving with it would be less terrifying.

i bet that can be fixed in steamos. try exiting to desktop and setting the time there. and then double click return to steam. you might need to check your settings to enable exit to desktop.
