A friend got it for 60β¬, sound quality is one of the best that i happened to try and the bass boost makes them a good choice for gaming. The mic can be inserted in the headset when not used and it works fine, as far as an integrated mic can record.
No problem on materials either, no cheap plastic was used, the only slight issue about this headset is that it becomes quite heavy after prolonged use and may be restraining for the head, other than that is a great piece of hardware.

There was a deal on Amazon.it, right now i don't know where you can find them at a similar price.

I have a ~ $15 headset (that has microphone) and a $4 microphone that works just fine
Of course the $4 microphone isn't the best but my headset is perfect
What I'm trying to say is go to your local electronic store and look around, there are some ~$15 headsets that are as good as the more expensive ones.

Already searched for wireless headsets in this price range. Sadly there are no comfortable ones. I got the Creative HS-1200, it hurts, the battery gets weak really fast, so if you want to use it you have to connect it all the time anyway...

I've had Staples 6 dollar ones for a few years now. People say they hear me nice and clear, I can hear them nice and clear. They are not the most comfy but only wearing them for an hour or so a at a time.
They have outlasted a number of my friends far more expensive headsets and I have had 0 problems with them, again unlike friends expensive headsets.

As a guy with experience in the "gaming headsets" department let me say one thing: No.
Just no.
Gaming headsets are usually made from shit material and will break easily like one side will just stop working[shitty cable problems], mic will stop working or will be shitty[most of gaming headsets have shitty mics]
Just look for an audiophile forum online and look for a pair of music headphones that will fit your budget and a normal mic that you put on your desk

As long as there's the stupidity of people saying "omg the Pro 1337 Razer ΓΌber-slaughter headset sounds so great" that won't change much... Why should it, it generates a lot of money. Crappy, cheap sound and build for $100 and after two years the thing breaks down, of course just a little after the warranty, or better, 3 times during warranty.
And those people buy headsets again and again. So why not push it further to the limit? I mean, Beats and SMS Audio Headphones sell surprisingly well and they're crap, too. It all comes down to marketing your crap.

No. The quality is pretty shitty. I bought the Turtle Beach Z11 a year ago; for $40. I still have them because I can't waste money a new headset. It is extremely flimsy. Bad audio quality. Has a $2 microphone in it. And it leaks sound A LOT. So far it's holding up; but this is my first Turtle Beach headset; and my last.

The Reviews for gaming headsets are almost exclusively positive - because manufacturers pay for good reviews. Plus, they mostly have the verdict "sounds good" while neither comparing to other headsets and headphones (you can't measure sound quality in FPS, duh, thus YOU NEED comparisons) nor going into deep HOW those headphones/headsets sound like. Everything sounds good in the verdicts. Headsets for 30$ and headsets for $300 too, so what does really sound good now?
If you want something that brings a little quality on your ears, do the following:
Buy either the http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B007SP2CO2/?tag=pcgh02-21&ascsubtag=forum + that microphone here: http://skinflint.co.uk/eu/reloop-rhm-10-black-a955969.html and enjoy much better quality than before. That counts for build and sound quality. I dare you to try it out before saying "duh, they're not gaming 1337 pro labelled" or "how good can it sound for 40 Pounds?"
Far better than Headsets.
Or, if you want something you can keep for a long time, because the build quality exceeds the plastic crap from headsets, buy a http://ue.logitech.com/de-de/product/ue6000 - which should cost you about 80 pounds. Currently half off on sale, which makes it a very interesting option in that range of budget. Already a headset, but no marketed (this is why headsets are so expensive while they sound so crappy) as one. Go for it!

I'm using a Logitech G930 since ages and I've never found something so comfortable, even wearing it for a lot of time is like nothing. And the mic is very good; I've tried other headsets but the mic always seems to be either crappy or short-lived. Or both.

^ Very much this.
They are light, wireless (a must, since I always manage to clumsily entangle myself using wired headsets) and have nice, crisp 7.1 surround sound.
Never used the mic, but thoroughly recommend these.

I've got one and it's pretty good. One issue to be aware of is regular resetting, which seems to have something to do with local wireless interference and causes the headset to stop working for a second or two. This is pretty unpredictable, sometimes happening less than once an hour and others several times in a row just a few minutes apart. I've learned to live with it, but it's irritating when it happens in the middle of a tense moment.

I've never experienced this with mine [luckily]. My only real bugbear is that they don't have a reliable "On/Off" switch. A simple slider would have been great, but they went with some crappy "hold the teeny-tiny button down for a few seconds, and it may or may not switch off" solution. Worse still, the headphones will randomly decide to switch back on at inopportune moments, eagerly draining the batteries until you notice the stunt they're trying to pull. Very annoying.
I'd still recommend these heartily above anything I've used in the past, but they aren't perfect.

Never happened to me; could be because I stay generally close to the receiver (hardly more than 5 m, even when I'm roaming around the house) and I don't have many wireless devices active.
I wound't say this problem is a common one, so if this is the only thing that keeps you from getting them I'd say it's pretty safe to ignore it.

There's no such thing as a 'Gaming Headset'. Those things are mediocre headphones with mediocre mics.
I highly suggest go for a good headphone, maybe even a studio headphone (I personally use an AKG Q701), then just buy a clip-on mic (for $3-$10).

What aspect makes them mostly for gaming? What other than gaming will you use them for?
Do you need them to be comfy after 4+ hours of constant use? Do they need to breathe well in the heat, so your ears don't get sweaty? Should they come into contact with the top of your head? Should they be collapsible? Lightweight, or doesn't matter? Surround sound? 5.1, 7.1?

A gaming headset should generally be comfortable to wear for long period of time, should not be in the way while you use them (too short or long wires for example) and usually has some additional control in order to save time when you have to turn the volume down or perhaps turn off the mic.
Headsets not closely related to gaming shouldn't need most of that, as for example you don't need a (switchable) mic or additional buttons, while I, using a gaming headset, have found them pretty useful while gaming, and couldn't care less of having them or not when listening to music and the like. The IS such thing as a gaming headset.

Nah there isn't. You can find long term comfort in good headphones, while gaming headsets might be comfortable that doesn't mean normal headphones arent. Plus quality headphones utilize much better materials offering higher quality in build and comfort as well as in terms of durability. Ever noticed how most headsets last 1 - 3 years? How about 10? They're not supposed to last that long! Headphones, on the other hand, can last 10, 20 or even 40 years when you take care of them. You can find much better sound in headphones and you can also buy seperate microphones that sound much better while also being able to switch them off. As for surround-sound, most 5.1/7.1 headsets simulate that (meaning upsampled surround on stereo) while those who feature "true" 5.1/7.1 surround sound (meaning 3 - 4 drivers per side) sound even crappier. And if there's headphones that are not quite up to a superb build quality of a 100$+ headphone (not talking beats) they sound much better than any of the $100 "gaming" headsets for 1 / 5th the price.
If you're convinced that headsets are something worthy of existing in the market for other reasons than manufacturers literally scamming customers with overpriced crap, you seriously have never heard a good sounding headphone in your life (or good sound whatsoever)
As for the "argument" with the cable length. Your too short can be my too long... How is a manufacturer gonna no? Plus, there's such things as extensions in case the cable is too short, and cable straps for too long cables.

Teufel Aureol headphones and a dedicated desktop microphone with a good noise cancelation. I have one from plantronics, really good one. If you don't want such thhings, well, medicore stuff like Plantronics headsets are ok, I hhave the Gamecom 780 and its awesome for an USb headset. I have bad experience with Razer, Steelseries, Turtlebeach and Logitech compared to Plantronics. But as said, if you want quality, you have to go dedicated headphones and dedicated microphone.

I've from a lot of times...maybe 10 years or more..an awesome pair of Senneheiser PC150.
They are no more in production but there is the PC151 model that is pretty similar.
The price is almost the one you are searching for.. of course you can try to search on another store the same model at lower price..

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a new headset? I currently have the Turtlebeaches X12s and I've been considering getting a new headset since my current ones are on their last legs. I have been considering something from Razer since they are in my price range which at the moment is Β£50-70 (Can of course be cheaper) and I was just wondering if anyone had another other suggestions. They would most likely be used for gaming and not as much for music etc.
(No giveaway.. yet)
