Can our favourite games, tell more about ourselves?
This article probably leans more towards what you're asking (although I feel the author assumes much based on their own experience/bias). On the other hand, this abstract psychology paper is quite an eye opener... even for me. Here's the full paper from another site where you don't need an account to read.

There's no maybe in the choices, so I'll say it here: Maybe.

Probably is the same as maybe, so there are 2 maybes in the poll ;)

I don't know about you, but 'probably' for me means it has a higher chance of being true, unlike 'maybe'.

Maybe, but for those who dont like videogames, i believe that has more to do with their environment. Most of my fsmily members were not gamers. They play, but not that much anymore as they grow up. I recently found that they still love gaming (but only the casual ones that you can pick up and play for a little while), and the ones that they play is either old school ones that they play as a child (due to pandemic boredom), or popular online mobile games (due to friends' influence).

In the ancient times people had to consult shamans to tell them: if person likes Clash of Clans, what does it mean? Are they a dog person, a panty thief, a habitual liar, a man for all seasons? Shamans would shrug and make wild guesses and be wrong, and people cowered, terrified of uncertainty.
Now, through the miracles of modern science, we know that the answer is a panty thief.

Depends. I like visual novels so you can infer from it that I like to read and that is true. But VN's have very different stories, from horror to romance, so that doesn't say anything about personality.
I don't think playing the same game for days mean you are missing something in life. You simply like it and want to finish it. Otherwise why even bother starting it? Same thing for achievement hunters.
I think most of the time the games we play don't have a deeper meaning.

I would say no. The problem with the question is that it's reductive. Do I like Soul Calibur 5? Yes. Did I spend a lot of time with it? Yes. Do I like 2.5D Fighters? No, not really. You could take the answer to the first 2 questions, apply Fighter fan stereotypes about me and be WAY off base, because I like the game for its character creator. Which games you like aren't the only part of the question that reflect your personality; why you like them is eve more important, and if you know why someone likes the game in question, then you already know a fair amount about them, so it doesn't tell you anything about them, because you already knew it.

Hmm, maybe? I would guess there's probably something that draws us to our favorite games, that's for sure. It depends on what the person is drawn to. Personally, I like playing games where I learn or experience new things, be it a new story or new knowledge. It's why I normally like story-based games and puzzle games. Although I'm open to try any game at least once. Some people are drawn to relatability, and some like strategizing. A person can like a game like Valorant just purely because they're good at shooters. Another may like them just because they like the multiplayer aspect. But they can also both like it because they like how the agents look.
It's different for each person. I don't think there's one absolute thing that can be attributed to everyone who likes a certain game, but I think there's for sure at least something that connects people, which may be different for different subsets of people who like that game.

Hello,
today I was wondering, is there a correlation between our personality and our tastes in videogames?
I mean, if we only like RPGs, do it means that we have an adventurous spirit? Or maybe that we wish 2 be like that? Or maybe if we like a bit of everything, that we're open minded persons?
Or again, another example, if we like to grind like there is no tomorrow (like playing for 9 days the same game 24/7), do it means we miss something in our real life so we need to achieve a lot in videogames (same thing I believe 4 achievements hunters?)?
Or, last example, if we don't like gaming at all, do it means we're so happy with our life that we don't need to achieve anything in videogames?
Feel free to post your thoughts! :)
I personally think Yes.. there could be a correlation.
