Expiration dates are often set to prevent people hording keys and later on trade/sell them.
Often the keys can be activated long after the set date, but some will not activate after that date or shortly after.

Hi, I have a question about Steam games that Fanatical occasionally gives away. Does the expiration date listed on the requested key page on Fanatical mean that it will no longer be visible on Fanatical? But the keys still work if you save them?
I'm asking because I tested the keys with Desolate and was able to activate them on my multiple accounts after the expiration date
