I won and on the "key" it just read "-"

The giveaway creator needs to manually send you the key first, you won't receive it right away.
They have up to a week to send it to you, please be patient.
If you haven't received your gift in a week yet, then you can mark it as not received.

The gifter isnt even online yet, keys dont get sent automatically

It means the creator hasn't added it yet.
They may want to check your profile first or add you on Steam to send the key directly.

Also a giveaway creator has 7 days to deliver your gift. Be patient and don't be in such a hurry to get your free game. ;)

3. If, after 7 days, you still haven't received the key, then just mark it as not received.

Be patient. A "-" just says, that the giveaway creator has not yet sent the key. They have 7 days to do so.

Edit: Click on "received" again, else the game will show up as "not activated" on your profile.

Only keys from big giveaways are sent instantly.

That giveaway ended just 10 minutes ago. If you do not receive the key for the game in seven or so days then you can revert to not received, otherwise just chill.

Ok I kinda was shocked since I thought that I'd be a scam or something since its a first big game that I've won, thanks.

You should mark it received when you have actually received it, and not before ^^

Please be aware: behind every giveaway there is another user who is gifting the game. Not everybody is online when their giveaways end and not everybody is sending out the keys immediately. There is actually a passage in the FAQ about it:

If I win a gift, when can I expect to receive it?

• Giveaway creators are allowed one week to send the gift after the giveaway has ended. Depending on the type of gift and the giveaway creator, you might receive the gift to the e-mail address you have listed on the account page, a key might be added beside the gift you won, or the giveaway creator might have sent you a friend request on Steam to make the exchange.Please remain patient, and do not contact the giveaway creator during this time. If the gift is not received after one week, you can mark the gift as not received, and attempt to contact the giveaway creator on Steam to follow-up.

It is considered bad behaviour to put pressure on the gifter by contacting them. Patience is a virtue.
