repent evildoer - you are forgiven
oh and sidenote - Crazy Machines is pretty kick-ass I was hoping it would be like that old game The Incredible Machine and so far, it seems to be every bit as much fun - THANKS again (sorry for enabling your wickedness)

So we should take the giveaway and ignore this supposedly reformed criminal's apology?

If you feel the need to drag this into a new thread then you are childish.
I have an opinion and this is a forum. By stating my opinion, i have done nothing wrong.
I'm sure if I (and the others) wer singing your praises and agreeing with you, you wouldn't have a problem, but because you don't like what I say you try to name and shame me? Okay.
I am far from ashamed of what i've said.

And it appears you have missed the point of a forum. It is to discuss, not to name and shame something for something you see to be wrong. If you have a problem then you can report me and if support says I have done something wrong i will do the right thing and say sorry.
You however, have made a thread naming THREE people who happened to disagree on a different thread. Giveaway or not, I don't think THIS is needed.

No I saw the puzzle, I just clearly don't appreciate my name in this guys thread.
Not everyone will know this is a puzzle and quite frankly it gives the impression I have forced someone to stop giving things away publicly.

I can't speak for others, but when I read these threads, I notice the behavior/tone/word choices of the people posting. It's sort of the written equivalent of "paying attention to actions, not just words." For that reason, I'm usually pretty clear on what is really going on, regardless of what someone may claim with their words. If you "walk the walk," you shouldn't have to worry overly much about what others might say. Your actions will disprove their accusations.
On the flip side, hypocrisy is obvious when it's present.

This thread: "And it appears you have missed the point of a forum. It is to discuss, not to name and shame something for something you see to be wrong."
Other thread: "You gave away $500 on Crazy Machines alone. In fact, you were who I was mentioning in one of my previous posts."
Ok then.

And in the original post before he had entered the discussion, I had not mentioned him by name. After he joined in i did bring it up to him, not in a new thread and not before he was participating and people could click on his profile on their own.

It doesn't matter when you did it. Both of you should be punished for breaking the rules - no calling out users for whatever reason. As far exploiters go, no matter how much money they spent, if someone is exploiting the system, he should be suspended/banned for it. Rules are there to be followed by all. Make no mistake, I'm not siding with anyone, but letting someone "fly" because he has high cont. value is derogatory.

You're both guilty. Man up and let it go. No need to make a big stink of it.
Edit: And you started it.

Why?
To clarify, my post meant that the quality of the game matters way more than the price/value. If a game is good, I don't care if giving it away is contrib farming. But if you farm with crap, you deserve hate.
After all, this is a site about making people happy by giving them games.

There's something called metacritic user score. While it's not anywhere near perfect, it's an acceptable way to measure how liked a game is, assuming there are enough votes.
For reference, Shadow Harvest has a user score of 27/100, with 30 votes.

May I ask if I'm in the etc.? I meant to imply I thought it sucked people were actually out there writing guides on how to exploit. I'm sure people may have noticed me in various bundle giveaways. I'm not concerned where games are coming from, but rather find it both pretty low (and confusing honestly) that people both write and read these sorts of things in hopes to magically "get rich quick," so to speak, in games/winnings.

I don't think you'll find a happy life if you take things discussed on this forum seriously.
The guides thing, whatever the case, is clearly to make someone (i.e. the people who wrote the guides and run the sites behind them) money, I'm fairly sure they won't lose money by doing that. Posting it here in such a clear way is rather appealing for people who're looking to get some contribution value; and the best way to let such groups go on is - usually - not even mentioning them in any way.
If people really are out to "cheat" stuff (which they're not, they're doing a paid program only in that it pays out steam gifts, there's plenty similar) then leave them be, but bringing it here just casts an unnecessary bright spotlight on it. Even without a forum thread here, yes, they'll have subscribers (or what you'd call them), just not as many.

This is the last place I take seriously with all the ridiculous threads that crop up on a daily basis (I've got way bigger things to worry about, like if this new job I'm supposed to be getting is going to come through or not). That being said, I'm not above apologizing if something I said was misconstrued. I'm not one for insulting people I wasn't even referring to.
I don't have a problem with Tremor Games itself (hell, I'm signed up there) or people bringing free/cheap games here from one place or another. I also don't find that to be "cheating the system" if that's how they're able to keep giving, regardless of how much money they may or may not have. That even still falls under quite generous imo, considering they could've spent their earned points on themselves instead. I was more talking about people who only gift anything here from TG, bundles, Steam sales or elsewhere, saying it's solely to win more (I have run into them). The most confusing part really is, why in hell would you spend money for a slim chance at something when you could just wait on a sale and spend less while now being guaranteed to get it?
And no, certainly not all people who gift free, bundle, etc. things are exploiting. The group of "exploiters" I'm sure is likely small... and it's not like I had some naive faith that everyone just liked to give before that guide thread popped up. This is the internet we're talking about here. :p

That and this "guide" in particular was telling how much money you could potentially make off bundle games, all the while littering itself with the author's referrals. Pretty obvious who's really profiting there. lol

Honestly, I find a lot of these arguments or "discussions" about contributor value quite silly. Unless someone explicitly states that they are only looking to farm contribution value to give themselves a better chance to win, all you're doing is making assumptions. Judge not lest ye be judged.

k, sadly I'm not at this point yet where I've given enough to understand your last thought you made up in this thread, I'm only halfway through, but still thanks for letting us be part of it and good luck to those able to enter your mind and win your heart.

I'll tell you all the same thing I told an ex-gf who was worried about coworkers seeing us kiss: "fuck'em."
Do what you like, so long as you're honorable.

Tiger Woods says, 'I am so sorry' in public apology ?
EA have really outdone themselves with Tiger Woods this year

Because the ability to buy games would mean you no longer wish to get games for free?

I think totally, throughout the day I spend maybe 20-30 minutes browsing Steam gifts. Usually during breaks from my studies, or free time at the job I get paid minimum wage for. Oh boy, I'm losing out on almost 4 whole dollars!

Yeah, I can buy lunch and have a game to play at the same time, instead of having to choose. Crazy huh?

uhh community? Socialization? Not everyone works 60 hours a week and some people actually have some spare time to do whatever.
That's like asking why anyone uses any forum. I am a bit confused by this conversation .

I hereby apologize 4 ever, ever making giveaways, being a contributor, etc. as people don't take a liking to it regardless of what I do or do not give away. I do have to credit Flammable, something-with-J and Ansatsunin [etc., and so forth] as they've opened my eyes and made me realize the mistake of my ways and what a dork I am.
As of such, I'll cease any such activities and you'll not get a single public game giveaway anymore. Well played, I give up, k?
