There's been one person in S.Gifts chat - a dev who wants to make giveaways (of his game or to promote it), but cannot join SG because his account doesn't have $100 value in games. While the chat crew advised him to take advantage of the current sale and buy something to boost his value, a more appropriate solution could be to allow users with Steamworks Developer badge to create a SG account regardless of perceived value of their Steam account. I'm aware that this is a very minor issue, but it's the little things... ;)

Allowing devs to host GA's to promote games is a good thing :)

its usualy huge amount of keys , so everyone has really big chance to grab a bite of the cake :P

If you remember some of these accounts, you should report them. Exploiting free weekends to create (possible alt) accounts is worthy of suspension.

We have roles in SGv2 so what about a new "Game Developer" role ?
-no 100$ restriction
-can post tons of GA

Something like that already exists, with only the 2nd point in effect.

I think this is a great idea. Or perhaps the staff could verify his account, give him a verified tag and thus give him more privileges when it comes to creating giveaways. His display name would have a verified status and his profile would provide more information as to who he/she is. I'm thinking, a custom text box for verified accounts that the developer can fill out.

Although a good idea, we've already discussed it during the beta and it had a few drawbacks (one of them being users that have that badge that have no connection with a game's development at all, just because they were in some alpha/beta version of the game while some developers don't have that badge at all). Also, promoting ranks is done manually so that would really serve no purpose since someone registering like that would still only have 3 slots.

The problem in the case you described was the chat suggesting that the user should buy items to reach the requirement, while they should have suggested to contact the administrator or a staff member to let us know, so we can advise them on how to proceed.

Closing this as it's something we've already discussed. If it's implemented in the future, it will be announced.
