What are you?
INTP, trying to find logic in a world with very little.
Such is life.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, the problem is that many people think logic is some kind of law, yet in reality it is just one of the many philosophies, so there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for the world to follow that and not just some any random other philosophy. These things tend to work mostly on personal level at maximum.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, logic is a philosophy, this is the very common misconception most people have. It is taught on most Classic Philosophy courses as well.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah well, in that sense almost everything is philosophy. Mathematics for example is a philosophy but people usually don't go around dismissing it as just one of the many philosophies. I think what Coolskeleton is referring to with logic is a set of rules that if you apply them have a defined outcome.
Comment has been collapsed.
It can be viewed as such. :) If you want to get into it, religion is the same though, as it defines a set of rules and a defined outcome (you go to the destined place in the afterlife/next life based on the carefully defined criteria you lived your life as).
Still, mathematics is something that can define reality. Including societies that don't live on the principles of logical thinking (for example a deeply religious seclusionist sect). This is one of the base differences, because logic dictates a set of rules of what should be, ("it would be logical to do that"), math describes things what they are ("if you do that, this happens").
Comment has been collapsed.
It depends on the level of abstraction. Mathematics are logic rules applied to very abstract concepts. The logic only "breaks down" if you apply it in the real world in an undefined, non rigorous way. Like if you said 1+1 = 2 and at the same time made the observation that if you add two drops of water together it doesn't become two drops of water.

I don't like these personality tests. Most of the questions are so transparent that the result only shows how I perceive myself, which is much less interesting to me than a more objective approach would be. I see myself as a massive introvert, so I tend to max out that aspect. The other parts vary a bit because they involve scenarios that don't apply to me, or my answer is 'It depends', which doesn't really fit the agree/disagree scale.
Having taken the test after writing the above, once again I get an INTJ-T, with 100% introverted, 82% intuitive, 80% thinking, 72% judging and 60% turbulent. Those last few are probably only as high as they are because it told me to avoid neutral answers as much as possible.
These things really need better questions. Maybe more specific hypothetical scenarios so I'm not left both strongly agreeing and disagreeing with the same question depending on what I have to guess it is being applied to.
Comment has been collapsed.
That one was seemingly composed of the same 5 questions repeated in slightly different ways, most of which still didn't really fit me either way. It gave me 66% ISTJ that time and basically nothing for anything else, but probably only because I skipped so many questions that didn't apply it wouldn't let me skip any more, which I suspect makes it less accurate than it would ideally be.

Yeah, I've found out that test has a slight bias towards S, because it makes N sound ditzy and useless enough to make you pick S more than you would in other tests.
If you really have the time and will to delve deeper into this, there's cognitive function test, which should be like a basis for all the MBTI letters. ISTJ and INTJ have different dominant function, so unless you're really balanced in every way, it should be easy to tell which.
Comment has been collapsed.
It gave me an ISTJ again, though really the main stand out values were with all the introversion and thinking ones (except introverted intuition because that one seemed to be related to questions about mysticism and magic, which came across to me as more illogical than 'intuitive', probably pushing that down a lot more than it otherwise would have). If the intuition had followed the same ratio of introvert to extrovert as the others it would have been about the same as sensing.
I notice they have a table pairing introverted and extroverted lead and support processes (ISTJ being introverted sensing supported by extroverted thinking). Personally I think it would fit me better if there was a combination where both sides of the table were introverted, but this is apparently not an option.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, the thing is that even as an introvert, you still have to use some function as a preferred way to interact with the outer world. There are things called loops though, when you get "stuck" in your first and third function, and not using the second much. For ISTJ, the loop would be introverted sensing + introverted feeling. Maybe a good read.

These are like horoscopes 2.0. Humans are way too complex to be defined by a few terms.
Comment has been collapsed.
I like horoscopes more. They at least tell you they are made with a human-controlled RNG and don't try to sell themselves as serious business.
Well, for the most part. I was rejected from a job offer once because the boss lady said my zodiac was not compatible with the ones in the office. Funny thing is I cannot even recall what the job was, just this tidbit, it was so surreally funny.

The MBTI was debunked years ago, so the results are meaningless.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not exactly meaningless. I know MBTI is not scientific, but that's only because it may be hard to get your type right if you're a more balanced person, and you'll not act like your stereotype. But I've seen people who are total stereotypes of their types, and easy to type. And I find it a good skill to have.

I do find this test very interesting, remember hearing a lot about in a podcast but cant remember witch.

just with a test? xD but what do i do with all these "burn the world" feelings? :c
Comment has been collapsed.
If the test rings true to you, you want to burn the world because you can see the problems clearly. Pick one of the problems you think is most important and help the people it's affecting. And while you're doing that find a way to work toward a systemic solution to the problem as well, knowing that it might not happen in your lifetime. Or it might. Either way you will have done your part.

I've done the test 3 times over the past 30 years. The tests are not the website questionnaire format, but following lectures and group exercises, that are conducted with an official / licensed facilitator. To go through the background, exercises, tests and reviews usually takes 4-5 hours. They were used to provide some guidance with career planning, team building, negotiation & conflict resolution skills, and just as an aid to understand yourself better (and how you relate to others).
The results that a lot of website tests give - in a 1 or 2 sentence "diagnosis" really doesn't do MBTI justice. If you ever get the opportunity to participate in an full MBTI program (with a good consultant) I recommend the experience. The website surveys are a bit of fun, but the true value gained is IMO comparable to reading your horoscope in the newspaper. There are some ok (and lengthy) descriptions of each MBTI type on the internet - but remember there aren't just 16 types - within each type are infinite shades of grey.
Oh and I'm INTP (crazy high on P)

I hate these kinds of tests that asks you how you react in different situations because the answers are pretty situational and you don't get to to explore the context filling in bubbles on a sheet or website.

First ISFJ here? Also, I feel like this test makes me seem like a really awkward person, its not that bad! Is it? IT ISN'T IS IT?!? TELL MEEE!! >; ' )

Yea, we're a bit of a weird bunch, but not really in a bad way :)
It was a bit creepy how every single sentence was so spot-on, in my case. I feel so naked now :)
Did you feel that way too, or was it more hit and miss?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, a lot of them were really spot on, some of them I went like right in the middle but almost always I could go for the outer or one off the outer dot. I was actually hesitant on posting it here because I felt it was so 'revealing'.
Though, I'm starting to get better and better around other people and I feel like I'm not that awkward anymore. I thought I would be a lot more extroverted now, but it seems like the inner me is still a big introvert.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, there are pros and cons to everything.
Being introverted is not necessarily a bad thing, except when you would shut yourself away completely.
But I don't think that's the case with either of us.

INFP-T (what is this T?)
I liked how the explanation of category fits me. Idealistic, shy, guarded, private, easygoing, adaptable, loyal.
I don't like much to meet new people. Does it have to something to do with this category?
The friends I have today I met 10+ years ago. it's so difficult to pass through my protection.

Ya I know. That was my point lol horoscopes are used the same way--as entertainment, assuming that's what you meant. Just saying we are too complex to be defined by these things. Employers do use them in businesses while hiring employees and I think that's just dumb.

Where can I find what the "a" is standing for?
Edit: found it.

Do hobbies have to be something "useful"? I'm sure people who wanted to pass their time doing something non-productive found their way to do so back in the good old days as well. Besides, I disagree with that only few part. This worldwide connectivity seems to have encouraged people to be creative since they can now share their creations so easily with others.

So, I'm quite a fan of MBTI. Some of you may know what it is, but others: it's a pretty widely used personality test.
You can take the test here.
Statistics. I know we have some rare types here. ;)
What's your type? Did the description match? Do you find it cool?
Obligatory gibway.
