Cleveland Day 3

We went to Put-in-Bay Island 3rd day of my vacation. I think it was off-season, because most of the shops and such were closed that day unfortunately. Still had fun though.

Goodbye land. We took the Miller Boat Line to the Island. Pretty cheap actually - I think it was $14 roundtrip for a ~25 minute boat ride.
Coming up to the island. That little tower you see on the right is the Perry's Victory Memorial, where we headed first. We wanted a bit of a hike that day, so we walked the 2 miles from the dock to memorial instead of renting a golf cart.
The Memorial is actually really tall, and you can go to the observation deck near the top.
View of the island from the top. The island is only a couple of miles from Canada, so my phone started connecting to the Canadian cell towers >.<
They were doing some War of 1812 reenactment down below. We could hear this guy yell and fire his musket from the top.
Lake Erie has water snakes! I have no idea how they manage to catch fish! Chow that fish down!. These are Round Goby, which are invasive species, so I guess the snakes are doing good!
We walked around a bit more, went to the Heineman Winery, etc. Didn't take any pics though. Oh well. Time to head back to the mainland

Dinner was at Jolly Roger Seafood House. Fried Walleye and Fried Perch. Yum. Seriously good breading. Might have been my favorite restaurant the entire trip.

Holy shit, that snake... can't tell definitively from the photos, but that might not be a harmless watersnake. Might be a deadly water moccasin. Glad you didn't try to pet it.

Jolly Roger... miss that place.

Yeah, I don't know too much about snakes. We stayed a good distance away.

Do they even have water moccasins in Cleveland? I didn't think that was a snake native to that area.

ETA: I could be wrong, but it looks to me that it is a Fox Snake. They are abundant in Rondeau Park as well, and are completely harmless to humans.

Those pictures of the snake with the fish are really interesting.
My "shipposting" is finally on-topic, yay!

Better than National Geographic. I wonder what was more scary, the snake or the Canadian towers.
