Strategylord here, you forgot the TW and Paradox's GS franchises.
Huge love for strategy games, my most played category of games. I was part of many multiplayer strategy groups (there are a couple pretty active) but as lately i admire my privacy, i've left all of them and play solo. I 've played everything from the list of franchises you wrote above apart from Dawn of War, Starcraft and the Cossacks. These are also the only decent strategy franchises i have never played tbh (edit: forgot to mention the Heroes of Might and Magic in the list of not played). I've been following Cossacks 3 since it came out and i'm thinking i'll get it in the future, prob in 2-3 years as now my apetite for strategy games is full :)
Playing EU4 atm, you must try it out if you like Paradox's games. It's by far far far the best game they have developed.

It's because they are not RTSs, but GSGs and TW I don't even know how to call them because they are a mix of turn-based and real time, idk. xD
I play paradox games all the time. EU4 is actually my favorite game. I have more than 500h on EU4 and probably a lot more on EU3. I should try other games now and then, but I always end up playing EU4. One of the reason that I'm trying to start this strategy group is to play different strategy games besides EU4/Dawn of War 2. :)

I found the groups i was in through various events, competitions and clans. I've discussed in the past, there are people who are looking for the kind of group you want to create. There are similar groups all over Steam but they all fail due to their inactivity, their lack of rules and organizers, mostly the lack of organizers. If you manage to succeed in these sectors you will most certainly fill your group with strategists full of passion and love for multi games. If you change your mind, I'd happily send you an invite. I've been to groups that ended like that too, so in order to keep going, I'm thinking about some kind of game/subgenre of the month system to get people to not only try new stuff, but also play together/against each other, like doing a coop campaign one month, a big EU4 multiplayer in another one, a CIV match later... group stuff in general.

Personally, I loved Starcraft. But I love the C&C franchise, including Red Alert, and Starcraft

Cossacks, RA2 and Stronghold (especially SH Crusader) are all great games
I'm also into games that combine RTS with management like Anno or pure management games like Tropico and Banished

I'm more into "strategic", slow paced RTS like Sins of a Solar Empire, Homeworld and Hegemony series, but I see I'm a minority here :D

After the sucess of my first post and seeing how many people still love the most forgotten subgenre, I've decided to change it into a monthly thing. I don't know how long it'll last. Could end this month, could go on for ever. Let's celebrate strategy games!
Before anyone asks why a february giveaway is starting in january, 2 reason: 1) february only has 28 days and I want it to last 30 days. 2) I won't be here on tuesday to create this topic.
About the game: Since last month I gaveaway a hd remake of an old game, the GA of the month will be for a game released last year : Cossacks 3. Lvl 1+ as always.
This way no one can say that there aren't decent new strategy games coming out anymore. Totally not dead genre guys!
Btw, there are still 2 days left to join january GA.
