WHAT IF... Steam suddenly vanishes from the Earth, along with all databases, games, items and whatnot. Not a trace is left. Steamgifts? Can't login without Steam. All your TF2 keys? Gone. Your game collection? What game collection?

What would you miss the most?

Just a philosophy: do you own your games on Steam? Your profile? How many parts of your life is digital? Is it all worth it?

My sanity. Steam = no games/distractions = no SteamGifts = losing only community I communicate with outside of work.

not very probable, worst case IMHO: they get bought by MS, Amazon, Facebook etc.

Should it happen, we wouldn't lose anything, because we didn't own anything in the first place :3
And that's the sad truth about digital distribution, the only things we own are licenses which allow us to download and play the attached games, until the copyright holders decide we can't anymore, for whatever reason they might deem valid.

I would be totally, thoroughly screwed if Steam just stopped existing one day. All the great games in my library that I haven't played yet would be gone. Also no Steam games = no BLAEO. Dreadful.

I keep all my games installed in case internet ever goes out, so I wouldn't really lose anything
but I get the idea, and I'd lose my mind if I lost all of my games

Everything in life is transient.
I'd just move my transient ass over to GOG. ;)

I would lose a bunch, yes. But I have significant pieces of my collection on other platforms and DRM-free backed up on various drives. So I certainly would not be without games to play. But it would suck, yes.

Steam is not going to do anything about it if they went under. I think there an article online point out the Steam UA's. That why GOG is gaining more users due to paranoid users :)
