strange, when I completed level 5 I thought (exactly) it was TOTALLY worth those 0.14€. It was a pleasure for the eyes to play that game (I really love art-deco and such)

I thought that game was just about as perfect and charming as a puzzle/physics game can be. Although, I played it on Wii. Perhaps using the Wiimote was more engaging than a mouse.

Wasteland 2.
The game is not that bad and even GOTY edition that will be released later this year may actually improve it.
But it's obvious that the game was overhyped, devs played on nostalgic feelings of Fallout series fans.
Hotline Miami.
Sure, the game is fun, but it's clearly not 10/10 like almost everyone advertises.
Transistor.
The game is good, the atmosphere, the music, the graphics. I've finished it two times with all achievements.
But it's too short and has some flaws, so again, it makes those fanboys yelling "1000/10!!!1" look idiotic.
DayZ.
Endless beta. Overpriced.
Bastion.
I'm not even comparing it to Transistor. Narrating, music, atmosphere and graphics are good.
But it has boring and repetetive gameplay, like if Diablo was pared down to be someting like arcade game.

I get what you're saying about Bastion, which is why it was the perfect length. Any longer and I would've gotten pretty tired of the combat, but for the length it is, I thought it did a good job of not overstaying its welcome. I suppose it just depends on whether you can enjoy the rest of it enough to compensate for the repetitive gameplay. Typically, I'm pretty forgiving about repetitive gameplay if the setting and story are interesting.

If GTAV is indie i would say GTAV is most overrated game of all times.

I would say any Blizzard and Valve games could easily top that any day.

Skyrim is not overrated... Maybe it is, i don't know but if you play franchise from beginning you find Skyrim very enjoyable game :)

GTA5 is just expensive game full of shiny graphics, bad customer support + bad online option...My opinion, please, don't kill me!

I don't get why several people say Terraria... Of course, it's a matter of taste, but it's like that with every game and if you don't like a game, it doesn't mean it's bad.

Anyway, my top overrated indie game is definitely Five Nights at Freddy's 1-∞...

If you don't like a game, it doesn't mean it's overrated. That's right.

Terraria is awesome. Well done, with massive amount of content and really big updates. Updates - patches, not DLCs. For free. You can clearly see devs love that game too.

I know this is controversial, but I didn't really like Braid. Many people think it's a classic, but I found it tiresome later on and a bit heavy handed.
Goat Simulator
Surgeon Simulator
Gone Home
I would say Minecraft, but I'm not sure it counts anymore. Plus, I played it so long ago that it barely resembles the modern game, and I'm sure it improved, if only by mods, so let's say Binding of Isaac. I can't stand games that are, in my opinion, pointlessly moralizing but obtuse about it. I felt like it was trying to say that religion was bad, without ever justifying it, but did so in a completely incomprehensible way? Heck, I'm not even sure if it meant that. It was a weird game. The gameplay left me wanting to go play Zelda Classic or something.

I also liked these games, but I think they're somehow overrated and can't really think much else, most of the indie games I played and loved are underrated instead.

Five Nights at Freddy's doesn't even make any sense in its own story or gameplay. Not to mention the developer insists on milking the franchise bone-dry because of its following between Youtubers who can't make actual content and the kids who buy it afterwards.

I found it pretty good. Story was probably predictable but still catchy. I must say it has unique graphics and gameplay. There is not much challenge in that game but still enjoyed watching the world and story walking around me.

Minecraft is a three part experience: building, exploration and combat. Building is a strong part of Minecraft, while exploration and combat aren't really good, since the world is pretty empty and combat is pretty shallow. Terraria on the other hand focuses on combat and exploration, although I'd argue that the building part is also pretty strong with it, considering the cool things you can build in it, but I understand why you wouldn't want to build with 1 less dimension. Eitherway, the point is, Terraria isn't a Minecraft wannabe, it's an entirely different kind of experience and isn't meant to be a block building simulator, it's a combat based game with a lot of difficult challenges to overcome, find a huge amount of very unique items and keep advancing in the game by exploring the map, beating new bosses and crafting stronger equipment to help you with it.

If you find Minecraft cool only because of the building aspect and you don't care about survival, then sure, you don't need to bother with a 2D "clone" of the game, but Terraria isn't meant for building, although possible, it's all about the combat and advancing in the game.

I would call Terraria a "platformer sandbox". Building is not important(but you can still make awesome things like pixel art). Great for 2D platformer fans, weak for Minecraft fans.

Terraria is all about progression. Exploring is a very important aspect of the game and building is rather a background element (at least for me). Also, you still have way more things to build with in Terraria, compared with Minecraft.

This kind of thread isn't really worth making or discussing as it'll lead only to negative discussions...

That said, any indie game that is popular only because of youtubers playing them and the actual games being shit are the almost the worst games. The worst indie games being those that are made by pretentious artists and usually have a walking simulator tag in them and no actual gameplay. No, having a few simple actions doesn't count as actual gameplay either.

Minecraft.

Don't get me wrong. It's a quality game, but it gets far, far more attention than it warrants. Besides, I'm more of a Dwarf Fortress fan.
