damn ... it sounds so easy to make money o_o but to get popular on youtube is another story ^^'

funny thing is how people claim that haters are jealous
well yeah, its easy to be famous when you are basically sponsored by youtube and have a shitton of money to spend on your pc needs but things are a bit different when you are basically on your own and dont have the cash to buy the latest supa-dupa tech pc thingy.
Actually the biggest sum of money I ever made with ads on youtube was like a dollar. But you know what? I dont really give a fuck. What I do is something I enjoy and and my goal is to entertain my audience.
Beside if I would earn any sort of normal sums of cash on youtube, I would reinvest it to make better videos anyway.
Maybe you dont agree with me but I have more respect for ppl who got famous from their own effort rather than for ppl who got upped by some big companies but cannot show up anything remotely worth watching. Once again, its just my personal opinion obviously (with like 5 year of experience on the site)
Before anyone wondering: Im partnered with Militia Network (some sort of affiliate with ZoominTv I think)

Most are sell outs who don't deserve a penny.
Bring the hate.

onfortunatly yes and it got even worse when youtube started giving partnership left and right, thus devaluating it entirely
Unless you are partnered with a big third party company, your basically solemny fucked up by youtube in the ass for anything

He worked hard to reach such a popularity. Maybe he doesn't work hard anymore, but I'd say that he got lucky and kinda deserved it.

too bad that most of those people dont really deserve it (and im still being quite polite)
its not about being talented anymore, its about having good sponsors. You can sell anything, even shit if put in shiny packaging

So wait, they make an estimate of how much youtubers WOULD make if they got ad revenue for every view or so? Nice but still, according to some guys only 30% of their views (an example) can be monetized because everyone else uses ad blocking programs (=no monies from these people). Then let's make a new estimate for Pewds 3 mill per year (let's say some of his viewers don't know about adblock). Also it's not like it's easy to produce this many videos to publish them on daily basis (because editing the vid + posting it can take about 4 times as long as recording did). That is ~250k a month for 7 days a week job where you deal with all kinds of hate, death threats, jealous people doing their best to shut your channel down etc. Good for all these people that they can make it because $ number may start falling despite rising number of views.

I feel like I should respect Pewdiepie even if I hate his videos. But he makes rape jokes and apparently says victims deserve him and I know it's not the end of the world but I still can't muster up much respect for him.
Watched some videos from the others, haven't heard of most of them.

Yes, its good to see how badly we make compared to stuff like this imo.

Personally I can't stand his videos, which is why I don't watch them.
In my opinion his content is pretty juvenile and lacks any substance, he just exaggerates every little thing that he does and scream in his "bro" voice, he is almost like one of those presenters of a kids show that talk in the most plastic, high pitched and condescending tone imaginable.
I can't blame him though, in a few years he will probably never need to work again although he isn't really working now anyway.

PewDiePie has more than twice as many views as College Humor and more than four times as many views as The Lonely Island? How is that possible? I've never even heard of him aside from having his name on two Humble Bundles, and everything I've heard about him is negative.

Millions a year... Screw pewdiepie.
Edit: Nevermind, watched a video someone linked on here, that little report is completely inaccurate.

I don't watch his stuff, but I know he's wildly popular. If he weren't getting that revenue share then it would just go to the host of his videos - Youtube, which is owned by Google. I hardly hold it against him for getting a chip off of their trillion-dollar iceberg when whatever he's doing drives traffic to them.

I tried watching one video he had, a lets play conkers bad fur day for n64. This guy would not shut the fuck up. He just kept talking and talking and talking. Seriously, just play the game and be quiet. He's just one of those guys you want to beat senseless until he shuts the hell up. Good for him on the cash though.

I never really enjoyed his vids from them being mostly mic screaming, and not even really gameplay - more like skips to something happening and him screaming in the mic.
But he made it work. Congrats to him.
