Valve's policy is that you should only trade with friends and people you know. That's obviously a load of garbage but it does mean that if you get a dodgy key from someone then they quite happily blame you. :/
edit: Can't find the relevant thread or post now. I might be talking horseshit. :/

As far as I have heard on steamgifts and other gaming forums IGN people either do not care or can not do anything about their system being exploited. So far there is no evidence of any "exploited" keys being removed and/or accounts being banned.

Wait, wait. You traded DOTA for choplifter? I've got a rock I'd like to trade you for $50.

You realize Dota2 is worth like 2 dollars now right? O_o

Yeah Dota 2 isn't worth much at all these days since Valve just sent out a huge batch of gifts to peoples inventory. A friend of mine got 9 and said if I could get him AC:R for them I could keep the rest. I got AC:R for 6 of them and gave it to him. I got Blur for 2 of them and Choplifter for the other. I'll never play Dota and I will play Choplifter so I think I did pretty well out of that deal considering every second thread on steamtrades is someone trying to trade Dota. Gl with that rock. If you think that Dota is worth that much I've got a bridge in NY I can sell you :P

I traded oddly, traded 1 Dota2 for Gothic 4, then traded that for Blur lol.

You should be fine. I won a copy of QUBE here and found out the person was giving out like 10+ QUBE keys and 10+ Choplifter keys until he got his account banned on the Steam Gifts for revealing how to glitch the system. Was worried about something happening, but it's still there and I haven't had any problems. They're more likely to just remove the game from you account rather then just shut it down entirely.

I don't blame you. I'm actually the exact same way. Spent good money on these games and the idea of being locked out from them is one that keeps me on edge. I was really freaking out during the DiRT3 ordeal since I'd gotten a key from a trade.

Don't worry so much. I'm quite sure your account won't be banned. To Valve, you're still a customer, and it's IGN who got glitched, not Valve.. I activated many keys on my account I got on steam trading (QUBE, Choplifter...) and I never got any troubles.

Yesterday I traded Dota for a Choplifter HD key on SteamTrades. I used the key and it installed fine. This morning I told my friend about it and he said "people used stolen credit cards to get them from IGN, Valve might ban your account." Now I'm really paranoid. Has anyone had they're account disabled or know of anyone that has from these keys. The guy I traded with has good feedback and everything but is from one of the countries accused of having a lot of users exploit keys. He did seem to offer a lot of keys for different games. Should I contact Steam support and explain to them the situation?
