I'm trying to figure out how much money worth a "gem" but result is not satisfactory. For example, Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army cards, around $0.08 in Market worth 20 gems. By other side, Skullgirls cards, around $0.14 in Market worth 12 gems. That makes impossible to do any calculation.

So, Steam is playing with values of cards, probably making them worthless for us, and people who use big amount of gems on bids, most likely would be overpaying game retail price just for "winning a bid".

How can people afford to sell 1000 gems for 1cent? how did they get their gems so cheaply in the first place?

I've heard that there was an early glitch where people using scripted crafting were making things so fast the system was awarding incorrect quantities of gems, thus giving people millions for free. Can't verify that yet, but it makes sense.

I placed an order for 10, it said it went through, and then a few minutes later it was gone from my buy order, but no money was deducted from my wallet and I have no new inventory items

FYI please be careful of these cheeky C that try to trade 3 cards of a game for gems except they don't give you the value of what the pack cost. Lucky enough these people can't fool me but I'm sure others will be fooled.

Almost everything = gems, means market flooded with gems. Gems price plummet (already there).

100s of gems = Booster pack, means market flooded with cards. Card prices plummet (going now).

Watch tomorrow all those folks which had "buy" orders in place -- they will be majorly pissed when they found out the card they thought they got really cheap is actually worth much less!

Conclusion: if I were you, I would remove any "buy" orders, quickly!

I'm down about $0.70, but I've made at least a dozen booster packs, and I still have another 120k in gems. With my cards currently for sale, I should easily break even. Hopefully, I can dump all of those gems into something and win, even if its just a minor bundle game that I missed out on.

Or the fact that there is bid worth of 30€ for CS:GO which is priced at 14€...

Is not like they are losing anything here, more gems created = more booster packs = more cards in the market. No matter if the cards are 3 cents or 15 cents, they still get 1 cent for each one, so yeah, they will still make money from this.
