heya,
I don't mind me some RPG, currently playing wasteland 2.
I've finihed fallout, fallout 2 & arcanum:of steamworks & magicka at least twice each on dvd, not reflected on steam. Shadowrun on the SNES. recently purchased the baldur gate bundle to play BG1 again.
I've got all the newish shadowruns, PoE, satellite reign, wasteland & Hand of fate to play when I have the time. I'm interested to join, mainly to see games I haven't heard of yet.

I would definitely like to join. RPGs have always been my favorite genre of gaming. My library is very reflective of that fact. My top 10 games ranked by playtime (with actually online playtime, I play offline fairly often as well) are from 10 to 1:
Darkest Dungeon- Permadeath, rougelike, strategic, lovecraftian and a blast to play. Any wrong choice is potentially fatal and could kill your best character you've spent 20 rounds or so making a beast. The art took a fantastic style in my opinion.
AntharioN- Has mixed reviews which depresses me. I thought it was a blast and a gem. It was a game my brother and I played for awhile before his death and both enjoyed heavily. It's a cute little turn-based open-world indie RPG with a fairly decent character customization setup in my opinion. Most negative reviews were over corrupted saves, an issue I never had sully the experience for me.
Lords of Xulima- A fun kickstarted turn-based rpg. It frustrated me at times BUT overall I spent a good amount of time exploring the vast and fun fantasy world you shipwreck on.
Morrowind- Definitely my favorite Elder Scrolls installment. Graphics are horribly dated but the game is still a masterpiece. It was back when they were making action rpgs with more D&D elements involved like rolls for every action you take. If you modded the graphics to be up to date the game would still shine above the majority of "more accessible to the everyman" AAA rpgs we often see today. (Please Please tell me I can play Skywind soon. I need it.)
Risen- An older classic RPG, another shipwreck intro and basic choose a faction and fight the other faction and the wild beasts. In my opinion it is definitely fun, from my memory (has been 2-3 years I think since played) but in other areas it falls flat or is a nuisance. Good definitely outweighs bad and if enjoyed has a decent series to follow it.
Divine Divinity- One of my favorite games, by my favorite developer, and the start of my tied for my favorite video game series with Dragon Age and Kings Bounty. I sat in my room and played most the 67 logged hours in one week. It was captivating and all I did and was recently downloaded to try and start up again if I ever have the time.
King's Bounty: The Legend- A great turn-based rpg but can be very frustrating. From my understanding ALL items in shops, including troops are randomized from the start game button. Meaning you can get to a super hard area where the shops have majorly disappointing troops or items that offer you no assistance. But you lead an army and have powerful magic. The battles can be slow but usually require strategy and attention to ensure your troops survive because you have a limited number to buy in most cases.
Rouge Legacy- I played this one with my boyfriend a lot for awhile there. It's tagged RPG but believe me it's much more platforming with an in depth battle system. The super randomized layouts and the traits keep it fresh every playthrough. It was not in my wheelhouse of games that come easily to me but I had fun every time and always wanted to do better, go farther. The least RPG game on the most played of mine but definitely worth a look.
Stardew Valley- Only tagged RPG over the mines filled with monsters that are mostly taken out by well timed hack and slash style gameplay. The fighting wasn't ever why I played, it just helped to keep me from ever getting bored. I was so happy to see this game and the resurgance of new takes on the Harvest Moon and Rune Factory type games because they were my entire childhood. I spent countless hours planting, fishing, taking care of animals, and mining. Watching the clock and trying to fit all the things on me to-do list in before I pass out and have to pay the doc a find for finding me and making sure I lived. When I first got Magical Melody it was all I played or did when not at school for months. I was obsessed with getting every not and saving the harvest fairy. These games aren't heavy RPGs but they are easily my second favorite type of game. (and really with how relaxed and happy they make me I might start putting them first.) Please Devs, make these games with unique elements and fun improvement forever. I will get excited about and buy every single one and love every minute. (My two most wanted games right now that I cannot afford are Staxel and My time at Portia)
Divinity: Original Sin- One of my favorite games of all time. It's amazing. I played it constantly, trying all the classes and crafting all the items, running around and finding a murderer and a time tapestry. I dug up a grave and had a bomb auto kill me and make me momentarily regret almost always playing a chaotic neutral rogue that will do anything if it interests me or has loot to find. But my biggest regret at the moment is not having preordered Witcher 3 & Divinity Original Sin 2 when I had the money because I was so excited but didn't think my laptop could run it. I planned on building up a new computer myself and then buying them and running on fantastic graphics to feel that satisfaction. Sadly on Christmas of 2016 my brother died and it kinda broke me for awhile. I started spending money irrationally and making dumb choices, I lost my job over a fit of depression, minor agoraphobia, and separation anxiety. Any time I had to leave the house I freaked out about my boyfriend who was at home in pain and would try to get back as soon as possible just to know he was still there and breathing. Sorry for the long rant, I've been bored and still fairly depressed and needed an outlet. Hoping recommending the games I love might help a user or two interested in your group find a new favorite.
Lastly the games I'm actually playing that should definitely get checked out are: Barony (old school doomesque dungeon crawler), Wasted (think rushed fallout vaults crashing into big heads soaked in neon), Dead Age (zombie management turn-based rpg), and Pixel Dungeon. (Moonshine specifically, a game on my cell phone that is a mod of previous versions. They have depth, difficulty, and convenience. My boyfriend is obsessed xD We downloaded Blue Stacks an android emulator to play it at home on our tv screen. If you've ever tried phone rpgs and been majorly disappointed try this one out. Takes lots of strategy and at times just luck but much more effort and care put in than most cash grab pay to win phone apps are.)
If anyone read this thank you for listening. Hope you find a game to try out. c: I just needed to write for a bit, it makes me calm and centered.

Will this group be open to recruiting or is it a limited time thing. I love RPG games but don't have a key for one right now. I want to bookmark this page if group recruitment will be open in the future.
Talking about RPGs I played: Baldur's Gate 2, Icewind Dale 1-2, Diablo 1-2-3, Fallout 2-3, TES Morrowind, Oblivion and many others that I don't remember right now :)

Well that makes it practically time limited and you almost hit 100 members. I see 88 members right now I may not be able to enter but I told some of my friends about this group.
I think genre focused groups are a great idea. With this, games can be gifted to users who will actually play them. Long live RPG lovers <3

Hi I would like to join, I love RPGs and JRPGs games. I'm currently obsessed with Deus Ex and want to play a lot more RPGs in the future and giveaway RPG games too.

Hey all. I sent a request to join the group. I've loved RPG's ever since I got my original PlayStation and started up FFVIII. Recently I've been more into my CRPGs like Pillars of Eternity and Divinity: Original Sin but still enjoy grand scale open world RPG's like Kingdom Come. If you do take a look at my playtime on Steam I'm sure you'll find this to be true! π

Any idea how to get myself to return to RPGs? Their length is such a strong contra arguement whenever I pick a game to play, and I don't really feel like risking few day's worth of gaming time to either end up disappointing after getting to know the game's system, or with grinding as in many of RPGs. also kinda bump. Help still appreciated

First, I suggest going through those in your backlog. You might be surprised by what you find.
For the new ones, watch reviews (I recommend ACG on Youtube), gameplay videos and read the forums before you commit to a purchase.
Get them on Steam (so you can refund them if you don't play over 2 hours) or wait for a deal elsewhere.
Then, when it comes to playing them, play other games at the same time to keep the experience fresh. For example, I started Pillars of Eternity at the end of February. I'm 55+ hours in but I've played and beaten other games in the meantime and when I play PoE, I just can't get bored (but then, I absolutely love PoE ...)

I basically only buy bundles / from group buys at this point, my backlog is... kind of horrible. The Witcher 1-2, Anachronox, Phantom Brave, all the classic DnD games on GOG + Icewind Dale on Steam that I tried to start multiple times but I just got scared away ; FF 8, all the Gothic and Risen games, Dragon Age 1-2, Drakensang, Shadowrun, PoE, and the list would just go on and on and on :\

Don't worry, you're not alone. I own and have yet to play:
Baldur's Gate II, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale, Tyranny, Mass Effect 2, All Neptunia Re;birth titles, God Eater 1 and 2, Avadon 123, Avernum 23, Dragon Age, Neverwinter Nights 2, all Drakensang games, Final Fantasy XIII (all 3), Final Fantasy X and X-2, and many more. However, I buy very few games these days and I'm slowing going through them all. Just play them one at time, take your time and appreciate the creativity and hard work of all those devs.

I don't qualify for the group based on level and most of my hundreds of hours in various RPGs are either on a different Steam account or not on Steam at all, but I just had to say that oh man are you in for a treat when you get to Baldur's Gate II. Also, I took a look at your games library; how'd you like Torment: Tides of Numenera?
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, you're not far away from level 4. Feel free to apply again when you get there.
As to Torment: Tides of Numenera, I really liked it but can understand people when they say it's not the spiritual sucessor to Planescape: Torment as was implicitly advertised. I liked the story and the tons of text to read but the game is quite easy and the mechanics are strange sometimes. I played it on release, mind you, so updates may have made things better.

I might do :)
Yeah, I thought it was pretty great; it was nice too to finally have a game where I run into some kid who's pretty obviously in need of someone to look after them, and have the game let me actually bring them along, good idea or no. I don't mind it being easy, really; yeah, difficulty is a big part of the old IE games, but in Planescape itself, the combat always felt fairly... tacked on to me. Clunky. Something you forced yourself to get through so you could get back to the story, rather than something inherently enjoyable. And Pillars of Eternity gave me those difficult fights again perfectly well.

Hoooo ! An RPG group !
I'm actually a fan of rich stories, but as you know, RPGs tend to have those. So it's a big part of my gaming experience.
Surprisingly, it's also the only genre I tend to buy on consoles rather than PC. I guess it's because they are exclusive to certain consoles (I'm lowkey talking about you, Persona & Kingdom Hearts).
Nothing to do with that, but writing this message reminded me of the time I was studying abroad and a guy who was playing Call Of Duty asked me what I liked to play. So I said RPGs. And he gave me the controller, 'cause he had changed the weapon to a rocket launcher.
I felt lonely (and bad at both COD and english).
Anyway, I'd like to join your group, sounds like your discussion threads could be very interesting.

I don't know if I qualify but I am a fan of rpgs. I spent months on Dragon Age and I've recently jumped into the Witcher 3.
edit: Almost forgot to mention Skyrim is one of my favorite games too.

Hey, I went to make a giveaway for the group and realized I wasn't in it. I'm not sure if I did something wrong on my part.

I'm fairly new to roleplaying (after 20 years of playing adventure games it suddenly turned out that there's another awesome story-rich genre out there), but have already managed to sink enormous number of hours into some of the best (and also some mediocre) examples of this genre. So yeah, I'd love to join, if you don't mind.

I love RPG's since childhood after titles like Phantasy Star and Shining Force. I finished Shining Force so many times... Last time I finished with hardcore mod that allows Zeon to move! It was epic just to see that >_<
But this is not the most difficult thing I faced. I've lost my mind in Pillars of Etenity and complete it for 100% at most hardest way. Can you handle big double dragons with rogue? That's took a lot of hours, but I did it! π
A little bit later I was hoping that I would be challenged by Darkest Dungeon. But to be honest, it is not so difficult if you know all the nuances and play competently. It's a pity that I played before the release of the DLC, so I did not make friends with the vampires. But I'll definitely be back to Darkest Dungeon one day.
For now thanks to Masafor I'm somewhere in the middle of the road of SpellForce 2 as my Playing Appreciated win π
In the current period of my life I do not have much time for games, but I will definitely play my wins from the group immediately. I want to join especially because RPG's are not for everyone and I want to send some gib's for real fans. I do that in PA group, but this group is more suitable in most cases.

RPGs are my favorite genre, and I think I have a few keys for decent RPGs I already have to make an initial giveaway. I would love to join.

Before making a giveaway, is there a way to be sure the key isn't region restricted?
