thanks for thanking a guy who doesn't want to continue the thanks for thanking a guy who thanked a guy who is trying to start people say thanks

There are those who use bots that will farm and add the codes, and others that have been taken by users without a SteamGifts account.
And then there are just plan lazy jerks.

Yeah, they will search out text formatted like XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX and just pop it in Steam. It really sucks.

I like that filter because it does this. I can still see who said Thanks, and I can find the more interesting comments a lot faster. I don't want to read every individual Thanks myself in giveaways.

That's a gay filter, people are showing their appreciation. You are not too good to accept their thanks.

Wow, I thought that filter was bi, guess you can never tell...
And "I can still see who said Thanks, and I can find the more interesting comments a lot faster." is not the same as "I am too good to accept your thanks."
You can also click the "show all" button to un-collapse them, should you wish to write a personalised reply to the people who wrote a swallowed-by-thank-filter message...

What if people right out long thanks?
Like
"Thanks for this super sexy wonderful game, that will change my life if I win it, because winning this is my life goal. Winning this will help me do better in life. Even just being entered I already feel like a better person. I will still feel great if I lose. Thank you so much."

This is why I recommend people not even drop keys in the forum at all, and, if they do, that they at least implement some form of protection to foil key-scraping scripts, which are apparently employed even by users who have been perma-banned here. :(

Just "Tanks" will do, silly... or you could say APC, but that's read as "Armored Personnel Carrier", so it's technically 3 words.

Most of the codes I see dropped on SG come with zero description. None. How would I know whether or not I want the game when I can't even tell which one it is? Given the likelihood I'll get something I don't want in my library, and the fact that I'm too slow to input the key before it's used, I don't even bother trying to redeem these things.
Thanks for reminding us of our manners, anyway.

Yep. Sometimes those codes ended up wasted for this reason alone.

I think the poster is referring to code ninjas, rather than giveaway entries, and I agree with them. If you redeem a code and it works, it's only polite to say "I got this, thanks!". It saves other people the hassle of trying a key that turns out to be used, and it shows the key dropper that their code was appreciated.

Wait so you basically say I shouldn't be an ashhole? . . . why? D:

I noticed at some thread especially thread that gives out cd-key or other free codes, sometimes all I see in the comment is people saying 'Its taken, blabla' and not even a single 'Thank you' from whoever took the code, come on, don't be an asshole and just redeem a cd-key without saying thank you, and if you're not interested in the game, don't be a d1ck and redeem the code n let it sit in your inventory or library whatever, let other people get it.
Im just letting it out, hate me for this or not, I dont care :p
