Well, it's not much considering the fact, that there were few big AAA games. I think, that it's rather a big failure of gamers who didn't even pay (average) 6 dollars for the whole pack, where Saints Row 3 alone is worth much more than that.

The basic version of Saints Row 3 was a really bad choice for the BTA. If you want the DLC, you will effectively have to buy the full game again. (It costs less to buy the Complete edition of the game than it does to buy all the DLC alone.)

Making Saints Row 3 one of the dollar games and making something else the BTA, or maybe two other games, probably would have resulted in more BTA buys. Making it Saints Row the Third - The Full Package (the Complete version of the game) might also have resulted in more buys.

Something that might have been interesting would be to make the BTA DLC... Base Saints Row 3 for $1, replaced with Full Package if you BTA...

I "didnt" pay more then 1 usd this time since i got Armageddon + DLC and Metro2033 from Steam already , i wanted only Darksiders and SR3 ( missed both from previous Steam Sale ) so thats not a point to pay now for the base game SR3 with no any DLC included , same as Space Marines wich has a tone of DLC , these two titles shudn be added to the bundle . So me waiting for Winter Sale to get SR3 Full pack

I got SR3 like 4 months ago for 4$ so I think it was a very bad choice for BTA.

The question remains. Is that enough to keep THQ afloat? And for how long? I don't think they can survive too long in the long run, unless their future games perform well.

No it isn't. Unless they pull a miracle at Vegas then no.

THQ Humble bundle 2?

That could actually happen. I mean, Homefront is a game a lot of people seemed to have wanted in this one, and i'm sure they have enough games to add in for another....

Really? Everyone seems to be saying Homefront is one of the worst FPS games ever.

Debatable. I won't do it anymore, for instance. I realized I wasn't playing my bundle games, so I got really picky on what bundles I bought.

Homefrount's single player is poor even by modern FPS standards. The development of the game was pretty troubled, and it shows most in the single player mode.

But the multiplayer was supposedly pretty decent. People who wouldn't buy the game outright might want to get the game in a bundle to try it out.

I've played Homefront campaign myself, and I can say it's a pretty good game.

However there are two massive things that I didn't like:

Short campaign
Lots of glitches/bugs

If they're going to release another bundle of their games they better fix HOMEFRONT up.

I was surprised that stalker wasnt in this one

One of the main reasons for this bundle was to push THQ IPs for upcomming releases. Seeing as the rights to STALKER were just confirmed sold earlier today, it wouldn't make much sense to put it in the bundle.

Ofc not lol! They are relying on the "Big 3" titles, delayed all 3 to give time to the devs to polish things, etc. Hopefully those game will save them...

Didn't it get cut up a lot? Paypal, Amazon, Google, Charity, Humble and THQ? seeing we buy through those 3 I would assume they get a share.

It'd be interesting to see what the final slit between THQ/HB/Charity was. From what I've personally seen HB drew the short straw this time around.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

On other hand HB don't have much to do after this, just keeps keys out there. Compared to past bundles when they have to provide the bandwith and such, also there might be something about transaction cost on their contract.

That was more referencing the view that people were having as seeing Humble as selling out and as such not cutting them in at all.

I would imagine people gave more to THQ to support them given their finance situation. I didn't read about many people complaining about Humble selling out. I think the games on offer were so great they overrode the complaints.

Only 1 BTA game was a bad idea.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Saint's Row The Third was only the first. Then came Titan Quest, Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War Game of the Year Edition, and Red Faction: Armageddon Path to War DLC. Coming in at 7 games, 2 Expansions, 1 DLC, and 5 Albums, that was a pretty fantastic lineup.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They added them too late though so the majority of buyers who paid only a dollar got them anyway. If they had the CoH expansions and RF:A as BTA only from the start people would've probably felt they got more for their money (despite getting the exact same games).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, Humble Bundle's weird policy had to have cost THQ a lot of money.

With Humble Bundle, if you don't like the initial BTA game(s), then there is absolutely no incentive beyond charity to beat the average. The best policy then is to just pay $1, as you'll get anything added later regardless.

If you had to BTA at point of purchase to get the future unlocks... (Indie Gala works that way.)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The shocking thing is, if everyone had bought every game at the headline price ($230), THQ would be $203,607,500 in the black before transaction, charity & Humble cuts.

Comment has been collapsed.

Except would everyone who bought the bundle buy those games at the original price point, or even at any price point had they not been in a bundle? Of course not. I myself was thoroughly uninterested in Company of Heroes for instance.

I think the question here is whether people would even buy a game at full price. Too many dam sales.

Clearly if everyone bought those games at full retail price, THQ wouldnt be in the mess they are in to begin with.

According to the possible bankrup and some news i have readed today, it can go F2P, with a store or something like that.

F2P may be a good option for COH. Its not a very strong IP and going F2P will most likely generate more income than selling it at a triple-a price.

Is any of THQ's IP's considered strong?
even Saints Row and Darksiders are considered B-List in the business.

They should've sold the games individually on a steam sale for $1 each, they could've made much more money.

Only SR3 in the beginning was a mistake, the game is very good but I would not pay the BTA only for him especially with the 500 DLCs that I would have to buy later.

Right. About 5 bucks for the game, which is cheaper than its ever been, along with 5 more games was too crappy of a deal for you. And the 500 DLCs are mandatory to enjoy the game, right? Sigh.
