Most common reason of blacklisting
I sometimes wanted something like whitelist GA option for blacklist to create GA with some crappy game to show them that they don't deserve anytinhg better :P
After that I take my pills and I feel better...
PS. Of course I forgot - when you vote for "Other" write in comment what is other ^^

Well, I vote for the missing "I don't use blacklist" option. It never leads to good things when you give such a power to people.
Although my current favourite is a certain high-level user who blacklisted me because I didn't agree with him. :)

One argument in favour is, if you blacklist people whom for some reason you don't want to win your giveaways, then you are increasing the chances of those people you might want to win it, even if just slightly.
One could manage a whitelist and have GAs made for it, however, this leaves way too many people out. Thus, one can argue it's a better method to blacklist than to whitelist.

That is true, and it could be a valid reason if GA groups wouldn't exist. Most people who want a specific group to win/not win, they just use some GA group as a condition.
I think the blacklist has to do more with the fact that the mods are understaffed and they want people to be able to blacklist rule breakers for the few weeks it takes for a ticket to go through and have them suspended/banned.

^^ This is so true... I've seen 2 giveaways on a thread and I found out that I was blacklisted by the people who created the giveaways... One decided to remove the blacklist, the other didn't care at all... Like there's the block communication on steam and I use it for scammers only, but in here, there's no reason at all to use it... Unless they're regifters...
When there's a free game people are like insta-blacklisting the ones giving it away even if the promotion of the free game is over... and like I don't even care.
I wonder what will happen if I giveaway a Mafia II key that I got for free 2 years ago or so... will people be happy or they will comment "that game was free 2 years ago and blacklist me too? xD
To the people that blacklist like crazy: Atleast "save" the reason why you blacklisted the person, or follow like a "personal rule" like myself on steam, the Block all communication will only be used for scammers.

Well, I whitelisted you to balance out the karma here. 😉😎👍

I blacklist mainly for breaking rules, and sometimes if an user is really behaving like an ass in a discussion.
Things I never blacklist for : having a bad ratio, commenting on my giveaways, not commenting on my giveaways, not thanking me after winning, having a different opinion than me.

Solid reasoning both ways (I hold basically the same listing values)
One thing I do wish was an option would be a small tag area in the blacklist list, for a reason why the person is there, so that the list could be reviewed to see if the person has changed their ways.
(Yes I know you can just make a text file for this....but, I'm lazy and I have too many random text files anyway) =p

I blacklist all of the rule abusers (not activating games, multiple wins, etc.). What's more if someone wins my GA and doesn't even care enough to post a thanks after he got the copy, then I blacklist him too.
Sometimes, if someone is really aggressive and offensive on the forum/in GA comments I report and blacklist them as well.

no exceptions at all? someone breaks a rule => blacklist? that is exactly what i personally don't like (and therefore not do myself). i remember making several mistakes when i was new here. i made up for them (like i bought the game i didn't activate back then). and now i would say i am a worthy member of the SG community. so i try to give everyone a second chance. if a guy is new here and regifts a game, that's not enough reason for me to blacklist him. if he did this 5 times in a row, after being informed that what he does is wrong - then yes, i will probably put him on my special list. but i want to be really sure that he deserves it. and a single offense is not enough in my opinion.
just my 2 cents... :)

Well, the procedure is as follows for me:

While i do agree with you, even if someone BLs someone for even one small one-time offence, doesn't mean he has to stay blacklisted for life.
Blacklisted user can always show improvement and be unlisted afterwards.
At least, speaking only for myself, if i do blacklist people for rule-breaking (unless it's already more offen than i'm willing to bother to count), i don't necessarily keep them there till kingdom come. :)

I blacklist anybody who uses the letter A and also the ones who doesn't think the same way I do... No wait, I don't because that would just be silly.
I did try to have a BL with people who won way more than they gave but that didn't last long because... yeah, it was silly reason.
So right now I have 0 on my BL, it's not that i'm against it, I just haven't seen anything that warrants a blacklisting.

as far as I know, small / limited / restrited GAs of free games elsewhere don't really count
one thing that pisses me off is for example, recently there was a GA of some game, I didn't manage to get one :( ...an hour late? 2 hours?
yet there were people here on SG giving away 4 copies... ROFL fknd idiots

Regifters / leechers (read as win (much) more then given) / guys who creating fake giveaways / post refs. on forum / post stupid post like begging, nagging etc. or if he have free gift copy of Dungeons Deffenders Collection (with gift copi mark) and tell me its 50€ gift and want 20 cs:go keys for it and i say him nope =iam idiot who know nothing :D

People who break the rules here in general. Most of my blacklist contains people who didn't activate their games and/or tried to regift them. And people who have been around for a while, but tried to abuse free key giveaways to get CV.
But there are a lot of other reasons but most of them are from just 1 or 2 people per reason.

yesterday i removed all leeches/bad ratio users from my blacklist as i noticed i'm only doing lv2-3+ GAs, which prevents all 0-ga creators from entering mine.
i don't blacklist for breaking the rules, i just report them so they pay with a suspension.
if people keep ignoring the rules they will be banned in no time.

How can one tell if it's a bot? That would certainly end up on my blacklist if I knew for certain.

Seeing as how I love to say stupid stuff I wonder how I've avoided your BL :P
I also have pretty much no level 0-1s on my list as I gave up doing those give aways for several reasons.
I do probably have one of the highest level blacklists though... I tend to blacklist high level users that only give to their own small groups, but enter public ones. Or higher levels (4+) that haven't done any public/large group give aways in like 2 years+
But my BL flows like water, so sometimes I'll see someone who's on it now doing differently and I'll pop them right off. I also TRY not to have people in groups I'm in on my blacklist, but some folks that have me on theirs are certainly getting mine.

I like regifting, but I block regifters. Cannot block myself though.

I picked "Insulting somebody", but "Being regifter" and "Creating fake GA for promo stuff" are both also true.
Basically: Inappropriate behavior (and on purpose) = Blacklist.

Same here :) I don't like blacklisting at all, but if someone blacklist me, certainly he don't want to see my giveaways too.

Wait, people actually blacklist for "thanks" comments? I thought they didn't actually mean it
Comment has been collapsed.
I mean there's story there. gather around the campfire. Let's assume Peaches created 43 giveaways in celebration for Mario kissing her or something. Peach specifically mentioned in the giveaway description not to say thanks or only comment if you really want to by sending her funny gifs or interesting facts or recommend tv show/novel to her. But some people thanked on all of her 40+ giveaways with same "thankso/"comment in under 1minute. Peach let that pass. this happened for 8-9 times a day N she felt like she was getting spammed by people using scripts to enter or disrespecting her by ignoring her simple wish for 43 times. Peach blacklisted such users.
End of story.
I on the other hand BL for no other reason than they don't like tentacles or trains.

Well I guess I never got that feeling cause I didn't give away major games, so good point
Comment has been collapsed.
you don't need to
I've given away twice 3 bundle games at the same time, even wrote on description "no thanks psl", yet some people just make the exact same ty comment on all 3... as in WTF? not a big issue as it only means 100 message notifications which take a minute to go through, but I may randomly take a look at such a person's profile and try to figure what to do

+1 to this. I did this on my first few GAs here, only because I was tired of the goddamn bots I kept encountering. Not to mention, if a person cannot bother to read the description of the GA they are trying to enter, then they usually aren't actually interested in the game they are entering for.
I stopped doing this soon after, but I might consider doing it if I do too many GAs at a time.

I wait 7 days until they activate the game. And I have only 2 people on my blacklist.

I feel like you should have add the option like 'being toxic' :P
I mean it's not the most common reason (I think) but I think that angry, hatefull people 'deserve' place in that poll.
And I'm kinda suprised about that 'thanks' comments having (right now) 14 votes. I mean, yeah, they can be annoying but IF GA creator didn't stated that he don't want to hear that I think it's not enough reason to blacklist someone.

I sometimes see something like blacklist war - blacklisting everyone for everything with no reason, with stupid reason, with sensible reason.
For what you blacklist most often and for what you were (if you know about that).
It can be interesting in my opinion.
