Most common reason of blacklisting
I clicked other because I used blacklist very few times, each time for different reason - there was one winner who was a dick, one regifter, one total forum-idiot (by that I don't mean "he said he likes something I hate", but it was premeditated and multiple forum-rules breaking), etc.
I also did threat I'll blacklist for "generic thanks" - but most people actually read description and written their thanks in non-English language, so my brain didn't really took notice of boring ones :P
Maybe I'll return there to check if I should blacklist someone for saying same form of thanks in other giveaway?

Honestly, the most common reason for me blacklisting people has been homophobia.

Regifting, basically the only time I actually blacklist.

I am not pro or con blacklisting. Nevertheless experience has taught me some people will abuse any power given no matter how miniscule. These GA creators that ask entrants to "sing for their supper" or risk being blacklisted are the worst offenders. Personally, I would only blacklist a scammer or "toxic" person. So far I've not run into either yet.

I've only blacklisted regifters and people who were rude beyond belief so far. I've only noticed myself blacklisted by one person and I have no idea why but then I didn't ask them for a reason either as it is entirely their choice. I do wish though that when you blacklist someone you were also automatically blacklisted by them.

That was a 6 year old comment :) I know it works both ways, but I do think it would maybe give people a moment to think about whether they should click that button or not. Ultimately though, I'm not going to lose sleep over it and nor should anyone.

You forgot one choice on your poll concerning mostly (very) high CV members:
" SG users can and will blacklist you for just about any reason they can conjure up. "
But don't forget that one always has the choice to blacklist the blacklister to have " symmetry " once again. :-)

That all.... = your max. 1k BL will be soon full.
Oh, that is true indeed. But since rule breakers are all I want to BL, I am hoping that they'll be prema-banned soon enough as well (though I don't know if perma-suspended people get removed from BL automatically or not).
Also, I just 15 people on my BL so far, so it might take me a good while before I reach the limit. I'll leave that problem for then.
If i would BL the lower ones i would need, for sure, 3k spaces.
Probably more. I doubt BLing or even getting those accounts will stop such people from creating new accounts. Specially those who do it for a profit (card farmers and account sellers). Hence the steam group idea I was talking about the other day. I don't really have the time or energy to think about it's rules rn, but that probably has a much higher limit afaik.

"... I don't know if perma-suspended people get removed from BL automatically or not)".
Sadly, no. You need to check your BL manual, i do this all 6 months to kick the perma suspended ones, the ones that got inactive and don't visited the site for X months, the ones that changed their behavior (if the last is a option for the case why you BL him).
Let's say it is time intensive and in my case, when i get then, maybe, 20 or 30 spaces free, they are filled after a few days with new ones. Right now i gave up to sort out and store me the new ones for my BL in a separate list that i will add when i am the next time motivated to go throught my BL (so maybe in 6 months, maybe never -because it frustrate me how many should be added and how low my free spaces are always after days of work-).

hehe...
Well, not here, but I was on a lot of forums at a point in time. Even though people frown upon necro, I don't feel it's a bad thing.
If the OP doesn't want necro on some thread, they should just close it.
Also, there are times when necros are actually helpful. Say you head over to some informative or help thread, say on Stack Overflow, and see an issue, maybe a potential security issue. Posting the fix/correct method could save a lot of people a lot of trouble.
I guess that is a very selective example, but you get the idea, right?

What does regifter means? Creating multi accounts and creating won giveaway keys on main?
Comment has been collapsed.
And what about the first giveaway? Marks it as not received? I can tell if the key was activated or not through Steam support, even know the date and time when it was activated, so if I meet such person I'll be having enough proofs to ban him.

I only BL for things like being a massive leech [700/10] and admitting they only win games for their trading cards, as well as bigotry. I've seen one person who comments on giveaways that they only want trading cards. They should just buy that shit off of Steam market for $0.04. 😒
I'm also tempted to BL for entering to win a giveaway when one has all of a bundle. With game bundles, one should always check to see what they've got before they enter. I had several people enter my Binding of Isaac giveaway, when they owned all of its contents. I'm sure many of them just wanted the Unknown package 15408.

I hadn't seen those comments. Yikes.
It's pretty lecherous, both entering only for .10 worth of cards and complaining when someone gives away a game which does not have them.

Sadly support is lacking on this site, some reports take years. You don't get a que number so you will never know how long your ticket will remain unseen. I have been waiting myself for over 10 months for a response to a ticket I submitted.

Some kind of tickets take much less time for an answer, so you can report them on request new winner tickets for example. https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/uR52k/i-love-doing-public-level-0-giveaways-p#px6EpP0

I turn pings off in every server I'm in
Wrong decission in ours, because no spam happens and you missed my pings :o(
Stuff like https://store.steampowered.com/app/317940/Karmaflow_The_Rock_Opera_Videogame__Act_I__Act_II/ that you would never notice without.

I blacklist people for being total jerks, no less.
Comment has been collapsed.
There are very few people on my blacklist because I only add the worst of the worst to it. As a point of interest, I am currently blacklisted by hundreds of SG users (which is not unusual for a Mod).
Comment has been collapsed.
It don't need to be a retaliation to something.
Maybe they don't like the user, all mods are active as normal users for years before promoted to a mod, maybe they don't like how he work as mod, maybe they don't liked a punishment.
A lot of reasons are possible.
I as one example have a lot of the mods on my WL, because the friendly, helpful behavior and as reward for spending time for all the mod tasks. Call it a "like" of what i see from them on sg.
And one or two on my BL, because i don't like their behavior or think they are the wrong ones that got promoted. Call it a "dislike" of what i see from them on sg.
I assume other ones do the same as i. None like each other user and that isn't influenced from a rank or not.

I remember very well why I've blacklisted Khalaq, and that was because of a certain viewpoint I found to be absolutely unacceptable, not "in retaliation". As Masafor has already written, mods are people (even when they've already become mods), and others have a right to dislike them and use the appropriate site feature.
Comment has been collapsed.
Precisely. Despite the fact that Mods are held to a higher standard than other users, we are still users. The same rules apply to us as apply to other SG users. More to the point, the Blacklist feature is there for the benefit of our users and they are free to add or remove people from their Blacklist as they like, regardless of reason. There are always going to be people in the world who disagree with you (or simply don't like you) and accepting that fact is part of growing up. Getting bent out of shape about it is both counterproductive and a waste of time and energy. It is because I hold this view that I have publicly defended our users' right to blacklist anyone they wish at any time and for any reason.
Comment has been collapsed.
You make it sound as if I said blacklisting a mod for any reason. I specifically meant in retaliation to doing your job.
What happens when you as a mod have to deal with someone and they blacklist you for it and then they keep doing the same bad behavior? Even if they don't get banned for the blacklist it should still count towards their actions so the next time they do something the punishment would be worse.
Comment has been collapsed.
Negative. SG users are free to blacklist anyone for any reason. As Mods, we do not penalize anyone for blacklisting us. Administrative actions are taken to correct a breach of the site's Guidelines, not to dissuade people from acting like a jerk.
Comment has been collapsed.
May I know exactly what you mean? Just out of curiosity, no other reason.
Feel free to message me on my profile, so you don't get into trouble for callouts.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's quite alright. I respect that.
I honestly asked more to see what you would say and how you would act, because I trust Khalaq. Your response was a good one.

He was using the listing to blacklist everyone who entered.
Some people set up fake GAs with a disclaimer that anyone joining will be blacklisted as a way to catch bots or people who don't read descriptions. I don't think doing so is prohibited by the rules, but I'm not sure I agree with the approach. You can easily end up blocking a lot of normal uses who for one reason or another didn't see the disclaimer or who don't know the language

I think I spotted a fake giveaway, what should I do?
We try to allow all giveaways to run their course without judgement. An exception is when a giveaway creator enters a description that clearly states their giveaway is fake, or if the description illustrates a lack of understanding of how the giveaway system works. In those instances you can create a support ticket to inform us of the issue.

The main category that I'll BL are those trying to gain a huge unfair advantage over others. This includes bot users, leechers who gave away a few games 6 years ago and have been collecting freebies ever since and people who abuse overpriced shovelware to boost their CV and group stats. Obviously I'll BL rule breakers and really toxic people, but that happens less frequently.

I sometimes see something like blacklist war - blacklisting everyone for everything with no reason, with stupid reason, with sensible reason.
For what you blacklist most often and for what you were (if you know about that).
It can be interesting in my opinion.
