Life is Strange ... Or did that game beat me ?
Anyway, as far as these "interactive story" type games go, this was one of the best I've ever seen or played

Thomas was alone and chroma squad (well technically I didn't beat the final boss due the bug, which broke my save)

The last one I've beaten must be The Beginner's Guide even if "beaten" is quite a strong word.
The last game with a challenge I've beaten must be XCOM.

Mad Max - actually finished before Xmas break, but forgot to post :> It was good, some parts really good and the story got really great near the end. Loved anything car-related - combat, racing, modding etc. but was not such a great fan of on-foot challenges. Most of them I'd just try to do quickly plus find parts for stronghold, but didn't bother 100%ing on-foot locations and with a lot of exploration as I found ground combat and gameplay overall much weaker than car one.
Undertale - just finished it and got blown away. Already preparing on replaying it. Won't tell anything not to spoil anything - just play it!

you see - it depends on what you expect - I loved Max Payne for it's story, dark, grim noir atmosphere etc, and MP3 lacks all of it. Not to mention that you lack freedom in it as well - in some parts it felt like shooting gallery - you couldn't even open a door normally no - shooring in room A ends, you get cutscene where you walk to room B, see bad guys entering in cutscene, then you get to shoot them, then when you kill last one next cutscene launch showing where you go next. Ofc not everywhere was like that - the one part I really liked - Slums- was much better. But a lot of uch unnecessary cutscenes and lack of good old atmosphere killed this game for me ;p

It was an action/visual/sound orgy - the whole game, from start to finish. Story was very good imo and the atmosphere was amazing thanks to marvelous soundtrack. It was a perfect action game and I loved every second of it. It was different than first two games but imo it wasn't worse at all and it was definitely better than the second one which wasn't as good as the first one.

when I launch game called Max Payne 3 I expect something that relates to Max Payne franchise a little more than shooting and bullet time (which is nothing exceptional in action games nowadays). I don't remember much about soundtrack, but we have very different music tastes anyway, so better not to argue about that. My main point remains - if it was called idk - Dude the Dude shooting Dudes - I may have liked it more - not expecting anything related to games I used to play a lot - but it was called Max Payne 3 ;p
Let's say Blizzard releases Warcraft 4. But instead of epic RTS we get action RPG. More than that - our heroes doesn't act or look like we remember them at all. It could be the best freaking aRPG on the planet, but as it would be called Warcraft 4 I would be still dissapointed ;p

The only thing that really changed was the setting and the atmosphere so don't say it doesn't relate to MP franchise cause it's a load of bullshit lol. And I'm glad it did cause it would be boring to still have the same "burnt out cop fighting bad guys on the cold streets of NY" theme which is overrated at this point.
The Warcraft comment is pointless, they didn't change genre in MP at all. Like I said - all they changed was setting and atmosphere. It's still a shooter just like two first games were.

not "just a different place" but also a different atmosphere, climate - story-wise speaking totally different genre. MP1&2 was a dark crime drama, heavy inspired by crime thrillers and noir movies. MP3 is on the other hand like hollywood action-hero movie.

Different place equals different atmosphere, yeah. It's a good thing like I said cause NY streets covered in snow for the third time would be boring. Genre? It's crime/action - the whole series, including the third game. I understand where you're coming from with your comments though because it's like with GTA series, I absolutely hated the atmosphere in Vice City and wanted more of the atmosphere and setting that was present in GTA 3. Seems like it's the same for you with MP series. I'm just glad I loved the third one as much as two first ones (or even more cause like I said, 3 is def better than 2 imo).

different place doesn't need to change the atmosphere 180 degrees, 2nd noone forced devs to change setting to such different one ;) crime is a topic, dark/grim/noir is an atmosphere ;p
oh and as for different place equals different atmosphere - every bond movie takes place somewhere else, yet they all feel like bond movies - how is that? Ofc if someone would come up with an idea that 007 joins cirus, becomes a clown, or to go undercover becomes nanny in kindergarden etc - it would change the atmosphere - that's why when thinking about new plce for 007 adventures noone would think about circus or kindergarden. Yet someone in R* came with "great" idea - we want to change setting of our dark and grim noir atmosphere game - what do we do? Let's go to sunny Brazil, have parties with chicks in bikini, havaii shirts etc ;p If they grew tired on NY or had no idea where to push story there - they could choose many climatic settings that would fit original's atmosphere - some european city maybe, as noir developed first from german and french influences, or somewhere else, but not Brazil! ;P
Anyway sure, you get what I'm talking about - it's not the same for you, same as it wasn't the same for me with GTA (up to 4 I treated them as Sandboxes, not worrying about story at all ;p) ;)

But many players liked that change. You're stretching the facts - Bond joining circus in no way equals Max Payne taking place in Brazil lol. They didn't take anything into the extreme, it's still a very good adult action shooter. They didn't make it a comedy, they didn't make it less masculine, they didn't make it less adult or anything like that. The only thing that really changed was atmosphere and place of action.

Ori and the Blind Forest - been a while since I played such a good metroidvania, and never played such beautiful one. It was one of the cutest games I've ever seen, but don't judge book by it's cover - near the end it gets ridiculously hard.

Tomb Raider and the Temple of Osiris. Only play this with a friend who doesn't ragequit when things don't work out. I don't think I've laughed as much in months as I did while playing this broken game :P

I don't recall seeing this thread around here and I think it's a pretty cool one. You can either recommend someone a game or advise someone not to waste one's time on it. I'll start.
Mark Of The Ninja - A very good stealth-action game. It's like Splinter Cell but in 2D. Although I admit there were times when I was a little bit bored. Overall it's a very good game. Solid 8/10.
