i love them, too. i played all the old LucasArts games back in the day. my favorites are probably Indy 4, Monkey Island 2, DOTT and Sam 'n' Max. but honestly, they all were excellent. even the supposedly "bad" ones like Loom.
there were also lots of newer titles i loved. Black Mirror had great atmosphere and story. Secret Files Tunguska had fantastic, logical combination puzzles. Yesterday was pretty good. and lots more i don't remember right now. ^^

I played so many of them over the years that it is hard to put them in any sensible order, but lately I have enjoyed all Wadjet Eye games (I see you have Technobabylon as a giveaway) and Stasis. From the old ones Sanitarium, Sierra ones, Beneath the Steel Sky etc and etc.

AGs are probably the most hit or miss genre for me. When I find one I like, I tend to really love it and will binge play it, but quite a lot of them just end up annoying me

Just gonna leave another mention for:
- Primordia (Currently on 80% sale, $1.99 in USD)
One of my favorite gaming experiences over the past decade, and anyone who likes adventure games and sci-fi shouldn't miss it. For those who are busy gamers and/or have a huge catalog of games, it's also not a long time investment, yet is still quite complete and fulfilling in its character development and narrative. It's an example of what good writing can do for a game, and proof that a game doesn't have to be 100+ hours to feel complete (part of the reason why I also love adventure games as they tend to have more focused and structured narrative).
I'll also make a quick mention of a couple first-person adventures that left an impression on me, which I think are kind of like a modern take on the genre. Some may lump them in with 'walking simulators', but they encompass so much more than that -- hence, I think that first-person adventure is so much more descriptive and less pejorative, and fits in with the way you'd call something a point and click adventure:
- Firewatch (Currently on 60% sale, $7.99 USD)
- What Remains of Edith Finch (Currently on 35% sale, $12.99 USD)

I've been playing adventure games ever since "The Colossal Cave." Many, many great adventure games have come out over the past 37 years. Some of them, like the Ultima and Monkey Island series, were really great, but Grim Fandango has been my favorite ever since it first came out. )

The ones I played as a kid bring back good memories: Full Throttle and Phantasmagoria for example.
Both are on steam now.
There is a game called The Orion Conspiracy which didn't get the same luck, it's neither on steam nor gog, it was a nice game too. It's a shame they don't pick it up.

That's because Adventure is the best genre. Not sure about my favorites, but a recent one I really enjoyed is the Adam's Venture games. There's no combat to get in the way, and the jokes are mostly enjoyable.

There are many many other great adventure games, but this one had the greatest impact on my way of thinking. The other were mostly distractions.

My favorite would be The Longest Journey. I loved the story so much, I couldn't wait to get home each day so I could find out what happened next.

I LOVE THEM A LOT. There's been so many good adventures coming out, always! Clever puzzles, excellent writing...god, they're probs my favorite genre...even if I play MMOs a lot more. Here are some giveaways for some of my favorites that have been sitting in my library :)
What's your favorite adventure game of all time? My first one I ever played was Pink Panther: Peril Passport. The first one that really made a major impression in my brain was probably Sam and Max?
