If you like adventure games (Ron Gilbert's games mostly) and simple hack and slash RPG (like Diablo II) don't miss Deathspank. Hilarious game.

Hmmm. I'd have to say Maniac Mansion which led into Day of the Tentacle. I played Maniac Mansion on the Commodore 64, and Day of the Tentacle (the Talkie version!) on the PC. Good memories...well, except for the time that I got stuck in the basement with no way of escaping (since you could only use the secret exit once!).

And I thought I was the only one left still loving good point n click adventures!!!
Wanna see my adventure collection (boxed, pictures nearly 10 years old):

I LOVE ADVENTURES!!!
And finished a ton of them only this year, just yesterday Fran Bow and now playing Shardlight.

Shardlight is good! I'm still working on it, but I really like the setting they created for it. How was Fran Bow? It's been in my library for a long while, but I hear it deals with mental health stuff which can sometimes be stressful for me...especially if not portrayed perfectly.

Love them a lot too! But there are so many, between the classics and the new gems, that I still have to discover some hits like Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle, now finally in my library thanks to Humble and...SG :)
For the old ones, Broken Sword, Discworld 2 are the first ones I can remember having fun with. Syberia as well, but I played it way more recently.
As for the more recent ones, The Cat Lady and Machinarium are really awesome imho. First one for its maturity, second one (and most of Amanita Design work) for its poetry, both for OST and ambience :)
Oops, my favorite, singular, right. Let's go with Machinarium then.
Thanks for the gibs Sinoda!

Every LucasArts adventure game is my favorite adventure game! :)
That said, I've just recently played an amazing point-and-click that greatly surprised me by its quality and awesome humor: Viktor, a Steampunk Adventure.

That would be the first and second Broken Sword games.

Larry in the land of lounge lizards was my first PC game.
CGA monitor, speaker beeps for sound but I loved it.
Taking control of Larry by writing commands was mind blowing for me.
I share your love for this genre. I played a lot of games back when there was no internet and you could get stuck for days, very frustrating, but equally rewarding when the solution was found.

I enjoy playing point and click adventures, even though it's not my most favourite genre :) My recent favourite one(s) would be The Last Door 1 & 2 :)

The Dig followed closely by Beneath a Steel Sky.
For text adventure games my absolute favourite was a toss up between Scapeghost and Rigels Revenge.

Difficult to select a favourite. It was one of my favourite genres growing up.
I would say:
Thanks for the GAs :)

Bump for adventure :)
I have to say that my favorite is monkey island.
It's also the first I played!

I LOVE THEM A LOT. There's been so many good adventures coming out, always! Clever puzzles, excellent writing...god, they're probs my favorite genre...even if I play MMOs a lot more. Here are some giveaways for some of my favorites that have been sitting in my library :)
What's your favorite adventure game of all time? My first one I ever played was Pink Panther: Peril Passport. The first one that really made a major impression in my brain was probably Sam and Max?
Day of the Tentacle Remastered
Hand of Fate
Kentucky Route Zero
Hacknet
Technobabylon
ps: Sorry this isn't a train. Someday I'll figure out how/why to make one!
