Used to play HoTS for awhile and while this is true the game itself felt.. meh mainly due to character progression but oh well.. thats just me.

You will get harashed on almost every moba as a noob, just try to practice first vs bots, if you have any friend playing, dont play with them vs other people, tell them to play vs bot too, because you will play vs more skilled people that will outplay you and the rest of your team will get pissed off

I'd say go ahead, of course some people might say that you're bad, just like in any multiplayer games online, but just ignore them/mute them and focus on having fun/getting better.
Playing with friends is always a big plus, it's more fun and you learn the playstyle of the friend, making it easier to predict what he'll do and thereby when something happens you can react slightly faster.

I got harassed even without playing coop/multiplayer.
But that's one of the reasons I avoid them. And also I don't want to be bothered really and I like to play on my own schedule.

They're different... Dota is deeper mechanicwise, while League offers more variance with different gamemodes. In the end both will only really be enjoyable if you have a group of people to play them with because there are a lot of people with anger-issues in both communities xD

I enjoy League better because I can play it, unlike Dota. But I'm 100% sure that I would enjoy the hell out of Dota if I would have started with it back in the day :)

DotA 2 : Play all available hero and upcoming hero for free, need to pay your favorite hero
LoL : cartoonish P2W , (you have to pay to unlock hero, some can be locked trough leveling progress ) with often make a lot new champion , that overpowered , pricy, just for nerfed for short time.

I tried to get into LoL after playing some Dota and couldn't physically do it, interface seemed like a big mess and skills looked pointless, graphics was strange to me etc.
It's like a favorite color or a favorite food, everyone's got their own taste...
There are many MOBAs nowadays so it's up to you to choose the one YOU like.
