Decided to go ahead and take a week off in Japan instead of just a day layover. Now need to decide on an itinerary. I think I might do
4/23-4/25 Akita
4/25-4/28 Sendai/Yamagata area
4/28-4/29 Akita (Kind of roundabout, but I'll need to be in Akita on the weekends, since that's where my sister is and she's not free on weekdays).
4/29-5/2 Tokyo. Bleh, I don't particularly want to be in Tokyo for this long, but need to head down on night of 4/29 since the rail pass will be expiring.

I could also replace Sendai/Yamagata with Aomori area, havent decided yet.

Combined with the giveaway game's title, this post is a bit funny. :D

I've never been that far north in Japan, sounds like fun. There's always Kyoto if you haven't visited already, but I guess that's a bit too far south for your planned itinerary.

Went to Kyoto in 2015 already! I like it so much more than Tokyo, I'd actually like to go further south, to Hiroshima, Osaka and such, but this trip I need to go North since my sister is in Akita. She's trying to switch her job to a larger city next year, so the next time I visit, I'm sure it'll be better to go to the south area.

Hmm... this also means I should probably go Aomori/Hokkaido this time, since they are more difficult to get to normally.
