In my opinion its not so good to buy an used one, they have a limited amount of life and are more sensibile than hdd so ... if you buy one you should think about buying a new one. BTW if you buy an used one and it crashes then you'll loose all the information on it without the possibility of recoverying it so think about it...:D

+1 yes, it depends on how used it is.

if he is just an 'casual' users then maybe yes. But if he is a gamer, video/audio editor then NO (this would be best used as scratch disk.

Sounds like a good deal then, if the seller didn't rape it in that month, which the health checker will show.

yep, tell him to use either hd sentinel or hdtunepro for the statistics. It shows time of sdd/hdd being used (hours)

good luck!

How used? 1 year? A few months? If it's anymore than a year, I wouldn't. Just get a new one if that's the case. How big is the price difference also? If the price is only like 20% cheaper, don't bother. A new SSD is much more reliable (you do not know what the seller did with the SSD :p) and warranty also comes in question.

Just my 2 cents :) I know a bit about these so I'll try to help.

There is software to test how much life is left in a SSD, ask the reseller to run the software and give you an image so you can see how much % of life is still in it.

As TRUCKER says, have the seller run some software tests and give you the results. Make sure they're programs that you have access to and can use yourself so that you can repeat the tests yourself. If the tests don't match up, get your money back. As a matter of fact, make certain that the seller accepts returns and that he pays return shipping AND shipping for any replacement item, or that he offers full refund of purchase price AND shipping. An honest seller will agree to this every time.

An SSD does not die as quickly as people would have you believe. For the average gamer, an SSD should last you four years minimum. That being said, I wouldn't pay more than 50% of a current model 256GB due to tech advancements.

I would watch Newegg for great sales starting today and going all week/weekend. Other online electronics dealers will have similarly awesome deals. Consider signing up for Newegg's weekly email, which gives some discount codes.

I would ask for the S.M.A.R.T data on the drive, this should give you decent details about the drive.

I always buy new stuff. Either from the official website or authorized re-sellers.

Yeah, but at least with brand new items you're still covered by immediate replacement and warranty. And they are a must for anything related to computer and gadgets.

They are expensive, but I'd rather pay premium and be covered by the store I bought it from versus guys who sell them in the internet.

Just my 2 cents.

Just buy it...if it lasts more than 2-3 years it's a good deal. I bet that you'll get another drive before the SSD will die.
This is my SSD

As you can see i have 16 GB read and 27 GB written per day and will still last about 8 years and a half.

Just buy it and don't worry about its lifespan...Oh also the SSD are not more sensible than a regular HDD...

Ask yourself the reason why you would even sell an 'used' SDD? Anyway hard drives are as cheap as chips - you can get a brand new one for a few hundred or even less - you just need 64-128GB for caching purposes on your larger HDD. People are just wasting cash with 256-512GB SDDs...

Maybe he wants to use it as his primary/lone storage device?

"Powered on: 1 time"
This device was first turned on ever when the screenshot was made.. (Either that, or the computer was restarted absolutely never since the installation, and has absolutely all power management disabled.)
This is a brand new device.
