The contest has now ended, go vote for the winners!

Update 1/26: Due to a lack of entries, I am modifying the contest to allow digital LEGO creations. I had originally wanted to be a purist and only allow physical LEGO blocks, but I guess I overestimated the number of SG users who own LEGOs. This way more people will be able to participate. I am also extending the entry period of the contest to give you a little more time.

This is a LEGO building contest. Your build can be whatever you want, from the simple to the grandiose. I was inspired by MBCoder's Drawing Contest (which is now over). I'm pretty much plagiarizing the entire contest format ;) I decided this could be more fun than a regular giveaway, so here goes.

Rules:

  • All giveaways are Level 2+
  • Entries must be submitted by Friday, February 5th at 6pm EST.

If you want to build with actual LEGO bricks:

  • You may use only official LEGO blocks for the design
  • Take two photos of your creation; one with a piece of paper with your Steamgifts username in front of the design, and one without.

If you want to design your LEGO creation online:

You have two (and only two) options:

  • LEGO Digital Designer: Software for Windows & Mac OSX
    or
  • Build With Chrome: Runs in Google Chrome browser
  • Take 3 screenshots of your digital design, one at 25% completion, one at 50%, and one when complete.

  • Email the pictures to redacted with the subject LEGO Contest.

  • Don't share your creation outside of the contest, so that all the entries will remain anonymous until the contest is over.

  • This should go without saying, but all content must be yours alone. Any plagiarism would result in banning, blacklisting and shame. Not to mention feelings of guilt and low self worth. But I think highly of you, and know that won't be an issue.

After the entry period is over, I'll make another thread where everyone can vote on all the entries.

All participants will have a chance to win

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7
LEGO The Hobbit
LEGO Lord of the Rings
The LEGO Movie Videogame

And the top 5 will also have a chance to win

LEGO Worlds
LEGO Jurassic World
LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga

I after the contest ends, I will invite you to a private group for the giveaways.

To get things started, here's a giveaway for LEGO Batman for everyone.

Please tell your friends, and bump the thread. Good luck, and happy building!

Great idea and bump! It saddens me that so few people have access to physical Legos, but given the primary demographic core of SteamGifts it's not really that surprising. Once you get into the parent ages, you start seeing more folks with Legos again... I know in my case having kids prompted me to buy a huge container full (or three) of blocks. Y'know, totally to let the kids imaginations run wild... and not, like, y'know, for living out my own Lego fantasies as a child. ;-)

I already have the Lego games I want so I won't be entering, but I might make some builds for this thread if time allows. :)

I love Legos, but I've always been a strict "follow the guidelines" kinda user, so designing stuff myself is not so much my kinda tea... And besides, I almost exclusively have lego technic which a) uses mainly bars and rods and stuff instead of bricks, and b) is tied up in the models I have standing around the house anyway...

Ah, too bad I left my Lego back with my parents when I moved out. Not too interested in getting into the programs yet either.
But I've already won online competitions with Lego building, I guess that'll have to do. Good luck all!

Does anyone know exactly how many types of bricks does LEGO DIGITAL DESIGNER 4.3 contain in the menu? I mean, are there all existing pieces there or ... just as a demo? I mean, there are a lot of models in the software ... but i think there are even more models IRL.
