No sweat guys! I mean you can still watch TV! That's why you'd buy the console right? To watch TV on your TV and use the controller instead of that really hard to use remote control that came with the TV? You can even talk to it and tell it you want to watch TV if you don't want to press buttons!

Guys, Consoles are dying. Everything points out in the direction that this will be the last console generation.

Consoles have sustained themselves on the myth that owning a console for gaming is actually cheaper than a PC. But in fact, with the same money you pay for the new consoles, you get a medium-high-end PC that outperforms the new consoles in every possible way. Plus, you can pirate games.

But don't just take my word for it, just look at the latest sales data : Wii was the only console with acclaimed commercial sucess compared to every other in it's generation. And that's because it had more to offer than any other console out there, with it's unique interactivity connection. -Why do you think the new Xbox comes with the camera by default?

The new game market that's arising is in the "Mobile" market. It beat EVERY console sale. That's why there's sell-outs such as the Deus-Ex series being ported there. Even if just for a test-entry game meant to try the waters.

They (the console manufacturers) are aware of this situation, and know this might very well be the last console gen. That's why they try to please you with several multi-tasks on the same box. But the reality is, they aren't even TRYING to be the best hardware at launch (which was their strongest sales point in PS3 and PS2), their 1.2 or 1,6 quadcore is outperformed by current PC specs that are the norm. Worse still : The console is just launched! (or hasn't even launched at that).

So yeah, they're dying off (the consoles) and the Xbox one announcement and features just tell you right-off the bat that they're even counting on it.

I expect the next generation of consoles to be the last. If there is another that competes with PCs, I suspect they'll just be branded gaming PCs in the same vein as Alienware.

As far as Microsoft's stance on used games and their 24-hour DRM, people often point at Steam. Since I can wait months between recertifications, Steam wins hands-down.

As far as used games, Steam wins here as well. For loaning games to family members, I can log into Steam at anyone's house and authorize that PC for the time I am there. I have done this for family and friends many times, and it led to a number of purchases. It isn't the same as letting them borrow the game and manual, but it's still letting them try a digital game at home.

What I'd like to see is the ability to temporarily loan my digital license to someone. Disable it on my account for three days and enable it on theirs as a 3-day trial. If Steam enables that, other digital platforms will have to play catch-up in that arena as well.

It shouldn't be so shocking about the new DRM policies for the next-gen consoles, they're just bringing consoles towards the PC model. That being said I still don't think console game prices will be as competitive with PC game prices nor do I think consumers will be able to digitally purchase console games outside of their respective built-in stores. Plenty of people will buy the next-gen consoles I'm sure, but there will be fewer people that have both a console and a PC. When my PS3 finally gives up I'm far more likely to replace it with a Roku or Google TV.

How to solve all this- stop giving the XBone publicity, and don't buy it.

Well I was a huge Xbox gamer since the start of the first Xbox until a few years ago when my 6th xbox360 crapped out once again. I've had the same PS3 for about 5 years and loved the exclusives and focus that Sony puts on games. MS lost it's way with the whole trying to be a cable box.

I bought a PC from Dell almost 4 yrs ago hoping to start playing PC games but it didn't really sink in till about a year ago. I started seeing how cheap games are and all the cool mods, indie games, bundles, and other many things that go with PC gaming. I built my 1st gaming PC in February this year which ran me about $1000. Maybe a little less. I've managed to rack up an impressive gaming library for probably about a 1/3 of what it would have cost on a console.

Now there are some awesome exclusives on consoles I'd love to play in this next gen but considering the prices they want for the Xbone so far it won't be happening. Plus I don't care for this other stuff MS is pushing like Kinect always on, having to sign in every 24hrs to play something, and these mystery fees nobody seems to answer fully.

I may buy a PS4 but it won't be at least until the system is out for a year or is around $300. MS on the other hand has burned me with all the faulty hardware that they won't be seeing any of my money anymore console wise. I've also come to love the community I've come into on Steam, my group and other groups I'm in, and SG.

So whats Sony's take on their system? I hear it's going to be 100$ cheaper too. Proably gonna go with the new playstation maybe.

Looks like I am going to be staying with 360 and converting fully to pc soon. Oh well. :(

Am I the only one that notices this console will cease to function after the next new range of consoles come out? You're basically renting the box from Microsoft.
