if you trading something trought steam trade it goes ALWAYS straight to your steam inventory

Trading instantly goes to your inventory, no matter what.
If something is gifted however, when you accept it you've given the choice to either place it into your inventory for later, or put it into your library.

Thank you, guys. That was very helpful. The reason I thought it may go to my library is because when I bought a game I didn't own, intending for it to go to my inventory, but there was no such option and it went to my library. I was very disappointed.

im not sure but when you buy game you have option to buy it as a gift or for your self, when buy for your self it instantly goes to your library, when you buy it as gift it should go to your inventory (i didnt buy gift so i dont know) When you trade something or receive gifts it always goes to your inventory where you can trade it later (if tradable) or gift it to someone or open gift and when open it it will go to your library and disapear in your inventory.
Im just not sure about part when you purchase as a gift, does instantly go to some person, or goes to your inventory to gift it later.

when you purchase something as a gift it gives you the option to send to someone immediately or to save in your inventory - and once saved in your inventory you have the option to leave it there for trading, send as a gift, or unpack yourself which will add it to your library...
so no harm in purchasing everything as a gift and decide if you want to keep it or not later - wish I would have caught on to that sooner

I have a question that's about trading but at the same time, it isn't; it's more about steam.
When you trade with someone for a game you already own, it automatically goes to your inventory to give/trade to someone else. Now what happens when you trade for a game that you don't own yet? I've turned down a few trades because I was worried it would go straight to my library, when is what I do not want. I want it to go to my inventory so that I can trade it to someone else and so forth the cycle continues until I actually get a game that I want. But yes, I'm very curious as to what will happen, and it seems too risky to try it out. I don't want to waste a trade and end up unintentionally getting a game I don't want by surprise. No, no surprises please.
Does anyone have the answer to this?
