Of course you can :)
The group is always public.
But, sorry, these last few days it's been falsely giving "invites-only" issue... Steam and Steamgifts has been laggy / has delays in members' account syncing... So just try sync-ing your Steamgifts with your Steam (from the steamgifts account settings menu), and refresh, then check back again.

This is Steam having a lag / delay issue in sync-ing your data. We've been having this problem since yesterday (if you read all the comments above)...

You can try sync-ing your account manually, here:
https://www.steamgifts.com/account/settings/profile

And press the green sync button. Thanks.

No I meant I can't join the group on steam. Resyncing on steam gifts won't help me get an invite to the group, will it?

I wasn't sarcastic, I'm sorry there was a misunderstanding. It's just that I synced after you told me and it still showed up wrong, but I guess it's just an display error. It will probably just go away in time. Thanks for the detailed explanation! :)
