lol this happened to me on the first gift I ever won (bad rats :P). I didn't read the FAQ the first time I was on here so I didn't redeem the gift straight away. I think it took like 7 months until they gave me a 5 day suspension lolol, personally I didn't mind since I usually use steam gifts just to check the forums for when random websites hand out free games which I could still do just by logging out of my steam gifts account.

But I did think it was pretty funny that it took 7 months to get done, and that I would imagine someone would've had to have made a ticket or checked my account and all that stuff just for a 5 day suspension like half a year later lol, ah well, next time I will read the rules properly.

FYI I still haven't redeemed bad rats lolol

Why does this sounds like "Rules are for idiots, please suspend me again!" :)

Lol I actually thought about this, suspending me again would technically be punishing me twice for only breaking one rule (As opposed to breaking the same rule a second time).

I'm actually interested to see whether I would get suspended again though.

Are you really begging to be suspended again? Still I applaud your courage, but dude, are you high right now?

I'm not begging to be suspended, begging isn't allowed in the forums :P lol.

Anywhere on the site or its affiliated functions and users.
FTFY.

IE pming users and begging, or begging in the steam chat will also result in a ban.

From what I can tell, he was already suspended for not redeeming the game. Double Jeopardy should not be put into play. If they have another none redeemed game, than thats another separate issue which the mods will handle.

I mean, they can ban people for whatever reason, but I think the idea behind the rule is that they assume you've traded the key away or whatever, so you get in trouble and get suspended. Forcing you to actually add the game to your account after that would in many cases amount to forcing the person to buy it -- which might have a sort of justice to it, but is probably silly overall.

This guy's situation (where they claim that they haven't done anything with the key, and still have it but don't want to redeem it) is slightly unique.

90% sure its part of the new system they are rolling out for V2 of the site. An automatic detection and alert to the mod/s. Probably why more then a few old timers such as OP got hit since it still requires the mod to manually go through and suspend them.

I think hitting someone after 2 years of breaking a rule when gifters only get a month's window to complain about no redemption is a bit wrong, but whatever. I suppose everyone needs to pay for their crimes eventually, as long as double jeopardy doesnt come into play...

Interesting, I didn't think about the v2 effecting it, would definitely make sense why its taken so long to go through though.

You suck... I could do the same with Bastion, but after I won one of those giveaways, I removed my remaining entries... :'(

If they ended at the same time it might have been not that easy.

So wait...say you really want a game, like Crusader Kings 2, and several people throw up different copies, all set to expire at the same time. You enter all five contests, and by sheer luck you end up winning two at the same time.

You get banned/suspended for that?

Not if you accept one, and tell the other/s to re-roll. If you accept more than one, yes, you will get in trouble.

It looks like he was talking about the dark ages where rerolling wasn't a thing yet.

If that were to happen now you would just redeem the first copy handed to you, and then ask the second guy to get a reroll. If you accept both then yeah you're in trouble.

Rerolling was indeed a thing 2 years ago, it just required mod intervention and a more legitimate reason than, "I dont like this guy that won my private/group giveaway, reroll plox."

Hah my former roommate got suspended like a year ago because some guy didnt activate a gift from a private giveaway. Last I heard he couldn't even get a response from support after the situation got resolved. This site can be a little silly sometimes lol

I had the same situation at the beginning of September. I hope SG2 will be organised better.
