Not bad, it would be nice to catch messages from friends that were posted when you're offline.

I set my games by category for this, I have one that's just full of betas.

Again, hiding is different then removing, im guessing he meant what he said and not just my own assumptions. What makes me thing he is talking about hiding is the fact that you can remove games from your library, contact steam support and they will remove the game for you. If you want the game back you will have to buy it again, but it will be gone from your library

The point is that your library won't be as cluttered. Right now the library of many people is full of beta's, tests, double games, etc etc.
Here look this screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/IsGOv.png
I put a white arrow next to every game that could/should be hidden or moved into a subfolder of their "main" game. They show up as 2/3/4 games while it's really just 1.

I'm talking about hiding it so you can't see it in your own library.
I have several betas and such that I don't care to have cluttering my library.
Origin allows this. You can easily access your hidden games and change them back if you wish.

How can a lower priced game effect the price of a higher priced game? If it's the same game we are talking about, the price of said game would still be the same, would it not?
Comment has been collapsed.
Because it's being bought from a different site. Valve doesn't make profit. If there was a small fee for converting keys into gifts, it would be bettet for them.

Giftable copies of a game are almost always worth more than keys. An increase in the number of giftable copies would reduce the trade price of a game. And since trading is about to become very common when games get added to the new Steam market (where only giftable copies can be traded, not keys), Valve would lose a lot of money from this feature.

Allowing to manually set download speeds or priorities.
Ability to "merge" games with the same name. Now, for example, HL2 is listed 4 times (HL2. Ep1, Ep2, Lost Coast), King's Bounty 3 times, Dawn of War II 3 times, Nequiz 3 times, etc etc. Too much clutter.

It may be that Valve have no choice if the EU get their way.
Would be an interesting development.

redeem key as a gift - this would be a great option

Still would like to see acceptance all retail keys for the games offered on Steam.

What do you mean with 1)?
About 2): That wouldn't work.
I think that Valve could make in the future the ability to give games away that you no longer like. But I doubt that you could turn them into gifts, they would be probably only available on the market where you can buy and sell them. It depends on the other publishers what they want and I don't think that they want that people to sell their games (which doesn't even belong to the users).
The only thing that I want from Steam would be a faster client.

By 1, I mean the account name that you log in with, as in an ancient email no longer used or name you made when you were younger and would like to change.
Why couldn't steam accept retail keys for game they offer? (I have Bad Company 2 Digital Deluxe + Specact but can only use my keys on origin : (
Comment has been collapsed.
I know this, but why do I have to log in with an old email, and the account name is shown on my client, if I was worried about my account being hacked, all you would have to do is look over my shoulder... it's a security risk.
Comment has been collapsed.
Why is it a security risk when someone knows your account name, that would be the same as when you say it's a security risk when someone knows your email address. You don't have to log in with your old email (just change it) and there is Steam guard and even in the rare case your account gets hacked you still could make the support to revert the hack.

As I understand it, in the days of yore, when the sky was brighter, trees were taller and Steam was in beta your login was your email address. Many springs have passed, many emails have been changed, but your Steam login is still that carbon-dated email you had long ago.
All in all it's just inconvenient, and I would love Valve to add the ability to change login as many other sites did. It's like wallpapers in your room, nobody sees it, but you still change them from time to time.

yet Steam EA keys activate on Origin o.O
1 key, 1 account... I have tons of boxed games, wouldn't it be nice to have them all on steam if they're offered on Steam?
Comment has been collapsed.
I see you point, but what about other non EA games such as COD2, COD4, ArmA, ArmA II, etc... I'm just saying it would be nice to import all of my games to my Steam account.
Comment has been collapsed.
There are many license-related things problems about that. There are already some retail games that activate on Steam but that's because the publishers have agreements with Valve, you would have to ask the publishers about that, for Valve it wouldn't even be possible to make this without the permissions.

Not to go off on a rant, but PC gamers are the most demanding and critical bunch, we are also the most "abused". Console gamers can play/trade/buy used games, while our games get locked to an account/user/email, and in some cases, we are not even allowed to change our name or account info because it's already locked to a particular game.
And I won't even start about the jump to $60 and $80 per title because that's what they can get out of the console players...

I play on PC because to me, it's a more personal and a superior gaming experience. Not to mention all the other things it can do.
My box > xbox

I'm not a sheeple, I think for myself, no one is forcing you to read or post on this thread. I'm sorry if my thoughts or ideas offend you, but clearly you can't see the direction the industry is going. I don't want to settle for a sub par, over priced console port on the pc, or have some DRM restriction that only hinders my game.

I want user reviews and/or ratings on steam. Sure there's Metacritic review scores and link on some of them but not all games... and metacritic scores aren't the most reliable things ever. I know the "recommend" option exists but that's just for friends. I want a system that logs your rating for all users of steam to see. Sure, I could go look it up myself or whatever but I think it'd be handy to have it right on the page from fellow steam users. Obviously this would see some stupid uses from some stupid people but what rating system doesn't?

I'm with you on this. User reviews would be great.

+1
However, I have gotten use to or just lazy and enjoy having my games on demand so to speak. Sometimes it's unavoidable if I want a to play a title that's exclusive to Steam.

Imagine I've organized my Steam library in categories, but I no longer want it to be that way. I can't delete a category instantly, I'll have to manually remove all the games in it.
Now imagine I have a category called "TPS" and another one "FPS". If I want rename "FPS" into "First Person Shooters" or "Shooters", I 'll have to remove games, create a new category, and add games.

PS: the main wishlist i have for steam is the option of be able to log in invisible since sometimes i dont wanna be bugged by my friendlist when i just want play only.
Comment has been collapsed.
I found that option thanks to you ;) was a kind hidden, that option should be available on login screen. this will save me a lot of time, im not much popular but its quiet annoying when i log in some ppl start talk at me right when i want to play xD
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, my wishlist. (Dont laugh, really)
I want Private Message system on steam so i dont need to wait my friend online to tell him something. (works best for 2 people with very different timezone. ex: Central and GMT+7) i cant simply commenting on their profile because another can read it.
Chat Archive, Sometimes i closed my steam chat window by accident/ my steam crashed. So i cant read what my friend chat to me, this is happen to me last day. A friend of mine gave me HIB 7 url gift for free, i was playing dota at the time and cant save the link. 2 Hours later my pc crashed so i need to reboot. When i launch steam my friend are offline, and tomorrow when i ask him the url he said he just cleared his browser history and forgot to save it.. crap
2.Download Scheduler
Sometimes, i left my pc overnight to download some steam games. With my connection speed, i can download up to <4 gb per night. But, i can only download one game that's <2gb size. And i have a lot games to download, If there's download scheduler it might be efficient.

I wan't a button that when pressed makes a little cartoon version of Gabe Newell dance around your desktop to the beat of any sound/music playing on the computer.

There are only a few things I would like to be implemented into Steam that would make it perfect.
Allow the user to change the log in email/name.
(Please don't flame, I have read all the threads on this already.)
Accept all retail keys for the games offered on Steam.
(My library would almost triple in size and everything would be in one place)
Allow gifting of games in your library you no longer want/play.
(Again, please don't flame, I have read all the threads on this already.)
Is there a feature or something else any of you would change in Steam or are you happy with it like it is?
